Well that was a lot of fun!
I really enjoyed the story and the way the characters were developed, with their back stories coming throughout the book. Frey is someone you love to hate, but I think he makes a good main character. I think it's interesting that most of the characters were ones that you don't really want to like e.g. Crake, Malvery, Frey... they've all got horrid stuff going on in their pasts. However throughout the story you end up rooting for them, you don't want them to die, you're mourning their losses, you're cheering with them.
I gave it 4 stars (probably more like 4.5) instead of 5 just because at times I felt it was a little bit clunky. I wasn't a huge fan of the gallows scene where Frey is about to get the chop, the Century Knights came bustling in, and Frey is able to outline the whole conspiracy, then off they go leading the navy and the navy attack it just seemed a little bit too simple!
I would definitely like to see what happens later in the series, as I hear the next ones are even better!

Moral: If you skip school you'll end up thick and everyone will laugh at you. So don't do it kids.

Capitalising on Ivy's love of Gorillas and the way she bangs her chest whenever she sees one!
I loved it! First and foremost, as ever, CHRIS RIDDELL'S ILLUSTRATIONS. I love them so so so much, and this book is just chocka with them! I loved the story, and I know as a young girl I would have loved it even more, adventuring off and discovering things as an Amateur Roving Collector. Maybe that can be in my career plan for the future....
A truly wonderful read. It was so beautiful, so romantic, filled with so much emotion and feeling. I'm ashamed it took me so long to get here.
A great addition to the Stephen Leeds books, I could happily read more stories in his crazy world.
Oh my, I loved this book so much! It was perfectly magical. This is one of those books that just fills you with joy and satisfaction to read. I came out of the end feeling like I had read something wonderful. It felt great to read a high quality standalone fantasy book. Some spoilers ahead I rarely love romance in a book, but I wanted nothing more than Sarkan and Agnieszka to get together, and I thought it was done really well. I loved the way the magic system worked, and the way that their magic worked together was beautiful. I felt it was a believable way of magic working - feeling different for each person. It wasn't always nice and pretty, often dark, gritty and brooding. I liked both main characters personalities (in as much as i felt they were written well, the Dragon is obviously meant to be a douche). Though I'm not sure I quite "got" Kasia. All in all, I loved it.
A fun little story, but nothing earth shattering. If I saw the second instalment in the library I would probably borrow it.
A story about a group of three bones who get lost, and their adventures.
An absolutely stunning, compassionate, thoughtful and heartbreakingly beautiful book which helps explain the death of a loved one.
The more we remember our loved ones, the bigger our memory tree grows and in that way they will never leave us.
Highly recommended for explaining death to a toddler, used with my 3 year old.
A beautiful book to help explain the death of a loved one to a young child, they live on through us by remembering them and what they taught us.
I LOVED this book, and so did my 4 yr old. So much so she asked me to read it again straight away when we reached the end... every night since we got it.
A lovely story about friendship between girls as they grow into women. How important friendship is, and how strong it can be, and what that can look like.
A good book for new readers. Some more challenging words for ivy to work on. Nice illustrations. She loves finding the duck on each page. And a lift the flap is always a winner.

It's a first reading book, it's not about the content. Good practise for new readers.
