The story of Beowulf and Grendal told for children. It's pretty graphic in places, so not for really young ones in my opinion. Though I've loved this story since I was young.
I picked this book up purely because it was illustrated by Chris Riddell - I love his illustrations. It's a really lovely edition, smaller than a standard paperback, interesting colour choices too, with easy to read well spaced font.

Love this, when you think there's no more magic left in the world, there's only one last place to look.
I love love loved this! I can't wait for Ivy to be old enough to be able to read it/be read it.
Aimed at a younger audience (9-12 year olds I think), Holly is an 11 year old girl who inherits superpowers - which I LOVE. It's nice to see ideas that would usually be aimed at a “boys” audience, being made accessible and appealing to young girls too.
The story addresses a number of issues such as falling out of friendships and dealing with emotions, using technology, uploading videos without permission, disobeying parents, and being safe out and about, absent parents (in the forces), and sibling relationships - and because its a story about a superhero there's obviously lashings of “don't do this at home” behaviour! It's lovely to see a story with a main character who has a really good relationship with her brother and who stars along side her throughout.
LONG LIVE FEMALE SUPERHEROES!
Part book, part graphic novel/comic it's a really nice combo and the illustrations are great.
Love it!

Love this! Feels very much like Margaret Weis book Goodnight Moon. Love the intro by Tim Peake. Great illustrations very colourful and fun.
Lovely book, with great illustrations.
A yeti has no friends till a bird drops in. They make friends but then bird has to go because it's too cold! Yeti is sad, but the rest of the woodland creatures see what a great yeti he is, and become his friends. Bird still drops in to say hello.
This book was so good. When it started, I wasn't sure if it was going to be for me. But I'm so glad I persevered. It was beautifully written. By the end I was in love with all the characters. Even the ones I didn't think I could ever love.

A lovely book, awesome illustrated. My only gripe being Excursion (with the X underlined) is used for X. But I guess there aren't many of Victorian era words beginning with X!
A beautiful story. This is storytelling like it should be, vivid imagery, wonderful illustrations, and a story that fills your heart and your imagination as you read it. I totally fell in love with it.
