Two young girls one British, one German grow up from innocent school children when the war starts to adults at the end of it. The author is inspired by her own family experience so all the small little detail enhances the story making it so much more real and raw. She waives the two perspectives, their intimate lives and transports you back into the past to showcase the brutality of war.
