It was definitely an upgrade to Nero's insta love intensity. The adorable pup with the scary facade was a nice touch along with the “you're gonna have to marry me so you can't be forced to testify against me” excuse

This one was millennia-away from the disaster that was the last book (book 2). Not only was mental health shown properly (at least much more than the last ones), but I didn't have to pluck the hair out of my scalp out of frustration. There is still a lot of space for improvement, starting with the amateur thinking of how a victim acts in real life. I just don't understand how someone who's been dealing with that trauma suddenly be comfortable to spend the night (or more) in a stranger man's bedroom, whether he's there or not. The part where she didn't call her landlady because she didn't want to bother her, that I get because I'm exactly the same. I would rather jump off the roof than to bother the landlady about a house problem that wasn't even my fault

Plot was great in the beginning up until the middle. Enjoyed the chemistry between them but the plot was sort of muddled.

That was a fun read not to mention how they had a proper competitive relationship which I'm glad was played out until the end unlike most enemies-to-lovers books that only uses their competitiveness and stubbornness as tools for them to build their relationship. In here, those traits were what got them together and broke them apart. Which is why the reconciliation in the end (caused by the hero realizing how wrong he was about his old ways) was so much more gratifying to read.
Overall, not the best enemies-to-lovers book I've read this year but it's definitely a very well written plot and would recommend it and read it again soon if I'm craving for something like this.
P.S. I don't get the Keiko hate, I feel like she's an okay side character, kind of like a comic relief one. I would probably dislike her more if she was the main character but she wasn't. And honestly, her quirkiness can be funny sometimes. Just some times though.

For someone who loves romantasy or fantasy in general, I really like how this fictional world is slowly coming into view. We didn't get that cliche information dump that we usually see in other fantasy books when the main character first enters the different realm. Instead, we were treated with details that are substantial to the plot or to the character's views. As a reader, we get to paint the imagery from the perspective of a fellow foreigner. Like when Luella first entered the Elven Kingdom, she took in everything she could but she only saw the superficial part of it. Later on in the book is when she was able to see and understand it. She saw the good, the bad, and the ugly of the kingdom, both land and people. That's what I like the most about in fantasy novels. The ability of the author to convey an experience to the readers. Just merely dumping details of the forest or how the houses look is insufficient if you want to dive into the fictional world. I want to be swept away by the imagery, so much so that I could close my eyes (I was listening to the audiobook while reading on my kindle) and take it all in along with Luella.
Now the characters, I'll admit they're not perfect. They're not as blemish-less as Uncle Iroh or as forget-feminist as Zade Meadows. But they have their charms, even the side characters. Except for Luke. I think if Luke wasn't forced down our throats from the very beginning, I would have liked him more and have understood why Luella forgave him. No, we don't need a prequel or an entire book (a la ACOTAR's Tampon) to get his characterization. What I would have preferred was a little more backstory or scenes with him where we get to see how their dynamic is/was. The reasoning was because I didn't understand how Luella went from looking at him like a puppy in love to throwing Eldas at him to punish him in the next chapter. Same goes for Willow, I love his character and I would love more scenes of him and Rinni. But the best side character of them all–Hook. I don't think anyone who read this book can hate that giant cinnamon roll of a wolf.
For the main characters, I don't know how to describe how I felt about them because of the “slow burn”. Understandably, this was advertised as an enemies-to-lovers so you'd expect the slow burn. However, the burn was both crawling to instant. Maybe it was because it didn't burn at all. Luella went from tolerating him to wanting to fuck him in a snap (during that intimate dinner scene where he ran away after they made out

I was EXCITED for Laura's story because I freaking love the scientific shit that I was expecting to see, given how she's the only medical professional in the group. But to my surprise, we didn't get to see much. It's literally the same as, if than less than, the medical emergencies we saw in the previous 4 books. Celeste's birth scene was the most definitive one and it still didn't compare to the laboratory atrocities that happened underground the facility in Book 4 (Celeste & Zhallaix). Another disappointing plot was her beef with the Captain who we have yet to see even though Laura was quite literally the one with a personal relationship with the man. I guess I thought we'll at least get to see them get one step closer to twarting the corrupt asshole but we didn't. We all have no idea whether the runaway group were able to deliver the evidence. Nonetheless, the romance between Azsote and Laura was cute AF, definitely deserves a .5 bonus. He's similar to Zhallaix when it comes to respecting their significant other's wants.

Yep, I loved this one. It's not as romantic as some of the other books in the series but it was plot-driven. It's heavier than the other books but this feat only made me know more about the ramifications of the events caused by/initiated by the former main characters. We see what life was inside Dreadnaut, or at least a glimpse of how dreadful (fitting name btw) it is to live in a metal cage that is unfairly divided by a primitive system.
Volp, Ursula, and Pierce are one of the well-hinted villains in the series, especially fucking Volp. God I hate that guy. All three of them disgust me at every turn of the page. But the thing is their actions, though barbaric and most of the time unnecessarily inhumane, is expected. Humanity is facing the biggest war against aliens since the Lurkers and they are desperate af. I wanted to compare Ursula to Menkel and though they are extremely alike, one is doing it for evolution and a search for a weapon while the other is doing it for pure fucking medical curiousity. I don't want to compare what Ursula did to what Menkel did because Menkel was a fucking monster. Ursula can very well be seen as one but what she did was nothing compared to what Menkel has done to his own kind. Pierce, on the other hand, is a pompous egomaniac who thinks so little of the Nagas who are literally the bew natives on Earth. And then there's Volp. I hate that dictator, I hope he died when the Dreadnaut exploded but given how there's still a new arc/s (3/6 more books) coming next soon, his more than likely to have survived and will remain as the main antagonist of the series.

I'm your average delulu romance reader but I have never really connected and related that much to a heroine's struggles until now. Her fears and her dreams resonated in me. In the last few chapters, it felt like the author was reading through my journal. I've also never told anyone about my cancer, but unlike her I have yet to find my reason to come clean about it. Carter was indeed a once in a blue moon gentlemen. Where can I even find one?

First 2 books were more of an amalgamation of small-town romance & alien romance. This one is one big (hehe) okay I forgot what I was gonna say, seriously
4.5/5 ⭐️This was the first book in series that I read even though it was the last. Nonetheless, I'm pretty confident that Hans will be my favorite here. It's just 😩 him eating the barely edible sht that she makes for him? That was not a turn on. THAT WAS ONE HELLA HUSBAND MATERIAL SHIT. It showed us how obsessed he was that he just had to devour everything that she is and she makes. And oh dear lawd, the post it notes stacked on his bedside table! I couldn't take it. He had me giggling and kicking my feet on my bed while I was reading this book.
Started the book thinking it would be as adventurous as the Indiana Jones films...as advertised. Instead, majority of what the book got from the film came from the love interest plotline and the “secret treasure that only I/we can find”.
The most interesting part of the conquest in the beginning, the map, wasn't even tackled properly! It was just there and then gone and came back again for the last few pages of the book. Out of sight, out of mind.
The couple are the typical “we're attracted to each other but I have a duty to uphold”. We didn't even get to enjoy the conflict between them because, like the map, it was there and then it's suddenly gone! One minute she was mad and hurt for his betrayal and the next...you guessed it, they're having sex.
The lost city, for all its hype from beginning to end, was as boring as the action scenes. We barely get to see it, barely get to experience it, and never really got to know it.
Even the side characters have less than decent appearances. Anissa, while appearing to be a great friend, had little to no presence in the book other than being the person that our FMC talks to. Bradley, who started to become the resident a-hole, was almost immediately thrown off the book after their first dilemma. The main villain, while decently structured by the foreshadowing and secrecy, was barely present (even with his henchmen) and held any interesting moment after the big reveal.
I wished the author focused more on the structure of their journey instead of the weak push-and-pull between the couple. If they're gonna be conflicted, at least put in some real obstacle and strong reactions. If you want heat, you've got to let them burn even hotter.

GENERAL REVIEW
I love the series. I love the Lovewell. And I love the murder mystery plot. I'm desperate for more Lovewell books, especially with Finn's brothers as well as the Dylan-Lydia drama. However, I hoped we got more answers on the drug dealing part. Maybe on the Hebert brothers' series? Maybe the evil dad will finally give up names and info about the Canadian drug cartel.
