I'm really hate reading by this point. God, this book is terrible. If anybody here thinks that the relationship portrayed by Daniel and Luce is real love PLEASE REEVALUATE YOUR LIFE!
Oh for Christ's sake, this book was torturous. I had to fight my way to the end because I wanted to know what happened, but even with the MAJOR cliff hanger I just refuse to read the next in the series. Every single character went from interesting(in Soulless) to downright obnoxious! Save yourself the agony.
I have an issue. Pete had red shoes (from the strawberries), and then stepped in blueberries, which means they would be PURPLE, not blue.
A very sweet little short story; cute but not his best. I loved the references to Willa Wonka.

My little Dahl binge re-read is making me realize how morbid a lot of these books are.
This is one I didn't read as a kid. I think Dahl had a phobia of being eaten by something.
“Surely Farmer Jake wouldn't eat a pig for Thanksgiving!”
Jokes on your, Turkey. I prefer ham on thanksgiving.
When I began reading I was apprehensive about another detective/police murder mystery thriller, but aspects of When I'm Dead gives it an edge on other novels in this genre.
While technically the third in a series, you could read this as a standalone and not be confused.
This is the PERFECT Hallows Eve read! I devoured it in 24 hours on Halloween, and the vibes were chef's kiss.
Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press, Minotaur Books for granting me access to this book in exchange for an honest review.
First and foremost, thank you to NetGalley for this ARC/ALC copy!
I think there needs to be a new genre for this type of book. This is NOT a thriller, nor a suspense, and barely a mystery. I'd call this a slow burn Domestic Drama. Misrepresenting the genre of a book will only lead to disappointed readers and lower overall reviews, but I will not lay that blame on the author.
In any case, I thought The Guest was okay for what it was, and was planning on giving it a nice 4 stars...until the epilogue. The pacing was a little off throughout the story, but then we hit the end and it's like Paris had a deadline and was forced to write the final 50 pages under duress. Suddenly we were served the most egregious “tell didn't show” info dump I've ever read, and I was SO disappointed. I love twists in the epilogue, but when so little interesting happens in the book proper, and you are then told everything exciting in the last few pages it leaves you deflated. Such a shame, because I'm a fan of BA Paris' other works.
I wanted to love this, but I didn't and i'm sorry :/
Thank you to Netgalley for my very first ALC/ARC!
This book was marketed as mystery/thriller on Netgalley, but I would definitely call it horror. I'm not a huge horror reader, especially not body horror, so it threw me for a loop. I still enjoyed it for the most part, though! This book twists and turns until the very end and leaves you guessing. The conclusion had me on the floor.
My only gripe was how the audiobook was split into very small sections, but that might have been a Netgalley thing? I'm hoping so.
Why did I keep reading this boring book? I was expecting some sort of twist or something to come about, but spoil alert! Nothing ever happens. What a waste of time.
This is a good spooky book for people who do not like scary books, but still works for people who enjoy thrillers as there are plenty of twists and turns. 3.5
Better than I was expecting, but still not a knock out of the park. A short little thriller for the Christmas season.
Thank you to netgalley for this arc.
I flew through this in less than 24 hours, so I obviously enjoyed it for the most part. It did lose me in some of the structure towards the middle of the book. I wasn't a fan of the retelling segment towards the end, and there were a few parts sprinkled throughout that drug on and could've been cut in half. You do need to suspend disbelief a bit (a lot), but I still had a great time.
Another I had not read previously. This may be my favorite of his poem compilations.
My prince! He loves to chop off heads!
This adorable poetry book is much closer to the original tales than any Disney movie.

A very slow start, but at about the 30% point it really gets going. I wish it had been edited down a bit, because when it's good, it's GOOD.
I don't want to say anything about the book itself as it's best to go in blind, but that ending...
WHAT?! Did we read the same book? I'm so confused, guys. I had so many issues with this that I'm having trouble even clearly listing them out. I found this review and it sums it all up very well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiPZfS8-tnc
I swear, Kiersten is the most polarizing author for me. I either give her books a solid 4 star (I RARELY give 5s, so a 4 is excellent for me), or a 1. This was definitely a 1.
The characters were all insufferable, the plot was weak, the different POVs had the dumbest, most unrealistic connection in the end, and the resolution was, frankly, stupid as hell.
