I really loved this. The ending was a bit abrupt, but the general premise and execution was still a winner. I've never read anything like this before, which I appreciate.
I really enjoyed a lot of this book, but parts of it dragged terribly. Most of the explanations were flat and extremely repetitive. I loved the setting and the premise, but ultimately it fell short.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this book for free in exchange for my review! All opinions are my own.
I didn't realize this was based on the Slender Man crime until I started reading, but I noticed the similarities within the first couple of chapters. Knowing this made the book a little less suspenseful, since I'm familiar with the case and assumed this story would play out similarly, but it was no less riveting. I was hooked from the first page and couldn't stop reading until the end. I wasn't a huge fan of the ending; I wish we had gotten a slightly more dramatic climax, but otherwise I loved this dark and twisty phycological drama.
I loved this series. Yes, it is a little bit predictable, but sometimes it's nice to dive into a book that you can just relax and enjoy. This was a great wrap up to a great series.
This was so disappointing. I skimmed through a lot of the boring filler and rolled my eyes at the annoying red herrings. Lisa is usually a great author, but this one was terrible.
I don't know why, but my mind wanders back to this book all the time. It was an assigned reading in the 8th grade and I STILL think about it.
Nora Roberts certainly has a style. I knew who the killer was before it was even introduced that there WAS another killer. This book is 100% predictable especially if you've read even one of her other books. SNOOZE. Last Roberts book I'm reading for sure.
I am so in love with this book! I've never been a big Christmas reader, but for some reason this year I have been in a holiday mood and once all of my media to be Christmas-themed. Naturally, I went on the search for a Christmas audiobook, and found this. The narration by Stephen Fry is fantastic, the story is adorable and nostalgic, and the writing is very well done. Listening to this may become a Christmas tradition for me, but for now I'm off to buy this book for all of my friends.
Pretty Girls was a thrill from the start! So many ups, downs, and dramatic turns. It definitely deals with some morbid topics, so beware, but totally worth the read!
SNOREEEEEEE. Skip this one. I was bored throughout. Maria drove me INSANE. She kept asking the SAME questions over and over even when it had already been explained! ALKJLAKSDJL AJSDLKAJSDkjhaslk
I felt that the whole backwards telling ploy thing really distracted from the story. It took me a few minutes each time to get back into the plot and I kept back tracking.
I was disappointed with the ending, but this was a good book and I was very spooked by the whole thing.
~~~Spoilers(ish)
This was actually pretty awful. One of the most obnoxious things to me was the imagery. We hear all about these aliens, but we RARELY hear a single description of them. We got a brief description of the blue-haired alien towards the end, but really not much else. And the sex scenes aren't sexy...none of them. They all turned my stomach in a way I can't describe. Even the ones that were supposed to be of a romantic and intimate nature were awful. The threesomes felt more like rape than anything.
I listened to this on audiobook, and I have to say it was NOT a good reading. Don't bother.
I can literally NOT finish this book. I have never been so turned off by a book before in my life, and I even suffered through Fifty Shades. Lord, I loved Odd Thomas but this is just way too much. I need brain bleach.
Hunger Games + Divergent + Game Of Thrones.
I really enjoyed this book, but it is very obvious that the author got most of her ideas from the above books
I'm counting one, counting two, counting thr...I can't freaking finish...
I just couldn't do it. I thought that the idea was really amazing and I was hooked at the beginning, but then it starting getting so repetitious that I found myself skipping over full sections. Aside from that the characters were all completely insufferable. I don't think I liked a single character in the entire book! I just couldn't finish it.
This book had me at the edge of my seat and guessing the entire time. It was a near perfect twisty-thriller
