Started this book as a read aloud to my son. After we got about halfway through he enjoyed it so much he ended up finishing it on his own! Firsr chapter book he's ever done that with!
I enjoyed this allegorical novel and look forward to reading the next one with my son.
Well written and very interesting. I wasn't thrilled with the format of this book - YA graphic novel, but I checked it out from the library anyway. I wound up reading it aloud to my young children. While she couldn't understand alot of it, it still held my daughter's attention well. My husband also caught snippets of my reading and asked me to pause when he went outside!
This was a quick read, I learned alot about Dieterich Bonhoeffer, and the graphic novel format easily kept my brain-dead, tired mama attention.
Really more of a two star, but it finally got more interesting at the end. It would have been an ok read but the main character was so dislikable. Even through the repeat days, up through the next to last day, she didn't really even care about the girl who committed suicide. It was fairly disbelievable then that on the last day, she did what she did. Overall, I didn't find much to like about her or any of her friends. They were typical mean, nasty girls. I also didn't care for the potty talk the girls did -typical of books written for teenagers. YA is not usually what I prefer to read though.

Enjoyed this read. However it would have been better without the unnecessary language.
Really enjoyed this book! It could have done without the foul language, as it was unnecessary, but otherwise clean. ⚠️
Really enjoyed reading this book, although it was a bit long. I was disappointed that the story never went anywhere and shocked/horrified by the callousness and actions of the main character (who is supposed to be likable) in the last chapter.
2.5 stars
Very predictable and I never really got into any of the characters. Also, it was very preachy about all religions serving the same God and being one. Some of the ways the men in the book waxed on about love had me rolling my eyes.
This was supposed to be retelling of Cinderella but there wasn't much similarilty other than her mother dying, dad remarrying and then dying. She got along well with her stepmother and stepsisters and they were all very nice to her. I got tired of the politically correct stuff and the preaching as well.
Thoroughly enjoyed the book. 4 stars for the ending. I felt like it should have ender sooner, as the story wrapped up, but the ending went on a little longer. It went on long enough that I was waiting for another plot twist!
Note: there is some bad language in this book.
I enjoyed the book, although I was disappointed by how large of an ego came across through the book. I also got tired of all the swearing when he kept bragging about how he didn't swear in his music.
I waver between 2.5 and 4 stars. Some was quite interesting and true and some I felt was quite off. He seemed to blame religion for alot of the issue with people's thinking as well.
2.5 - 3 stars Felt too overdone and ridiculous to me even though I really enjoyed her Vera Wong book. Also didn't appreciate the language.
This could have been a great plot, but just fell flat for me. I never felt very invested in the characters or cared what happened to them. It was ok but never got better.
2.5 stars
The beginning of the book and the end were pretty good, but the whole middle was rather insufferable. A lot of name dropping and mentioning how he gets free meals at expensive restaurants while his chef friends let him order things that are not even on the menu.
I enjoyed the antedotes that were funny or relatable, but alot of the writing is just not very interesting. I also did not appreciate the foul language sprinkled in, esp when my daughter loves to come and read over my shoulder.
