I didn't realize this was a book for “young readers” when I ordered it however I am glad I read it. I haven't read anything about The Lost Boys before. It is amazing what these children went through and survived through perseverance.
I would have given this 3.5 stars if I could. I thought her story was interesting but could have gone into more detail into her interactions with others. It was all very high level. Interesting to gain some insight into the prison system.
I could not put this book down! Jane Harper's description of the outback made me feel as if I was there and the mystery kept me engaged.
This book kept my attention. It was a good story, told from alternating points of view. I found myself not wanting to put it down, anxious to know what the resolution would be!
The stories of survival during this time period are amazing and how Lale and Gita managed to accomplish is no exception, however I wish this book had been written with more emotion. It felt like a monotone retelling of individual incidents. I gave it four stars because of the story behind it all but wish the telling of it had been better.
Wow. I could not put this book down. It opened my eyes to a heartbreaking part of history and the horrors of the Tennessee Children's Home Society. The will of the children to survive their situation was incredible. Well written.
I really enjoyed this book. It was very well written and took the reader on Eleanor's journey of self discovery while slowly revealing her past. Great read.
I was torn between three and four stars for this. I enjoyed the book but found the story to ebb and flow, and ultimately many of the details didn't pertain to the story.
Wow! So interesting and disturbing at the same time. This is the first Larson book I have read and I really enjoyed his style.
I liked the way this book was written. The author's use of metaphor and personification was really interesting. I also found it interesting that death had feelings and didn't appear to like his job. He had compassion for certain souls and took special care of those that touched him.
A very interesting read. I loved the way the characters were interwoven throughout the book and how it all came together.
Probably more like a 3.5. I really enjoyed the story, but felt like the author tried to rapidly wrap it up at the end.
Very entertaining book, and very timely subject with the Boston art heist in news now. It was interesting learning more about how great works of art are created.
Very interesting book. Sad that many people are probably mis-diagnosed and end up institutionalized. I hope the research continues to quickly diagnose and treat this disease.
