3.5*
I liked the relationship between the two main characters, but I didn't understand why Morgan wanted to keep her relationship and being lesbian a secret from her family and friends.
At first I thought they were prejudiced against lesbians, but they didn't even bat an eye when they discovered they were dating. In fact they were upset that Morgan hadn't trust them.
3.5*
This book was a disappointment. Most of it was okay, but there was a part in the middle I liked a lot.
There was something about the writing that I didn't enjoy, I was constantly rereading sentences because I was confused about what was being described. I don't know if it was because I was having a hard time visualizing the trees actions or because the descriptions were bad.
I also didn't like the lack of communication between the characters. Red from the moment she met the Wolf knows that he is keeping things from her, but she doesn't demand answers to know what the hell is going on in the forest.
Wolf is also frustrating as a character because he doesn't want anyone else getting hurt but he can???t avoid that because he is clearly overwhelmed with the forest, and everyone including himself knows that, but he insists on doing everything alone.
There was barely any character growth in this book. Almost all the characters at the end of the book were basically the same from the beginning with only really small changes. I think the one that changed the most was Neve and that wasn???t a good change.
4.5Really enjoyed this sequel. I didn't like how every human liked the princess just because. I also didn't like how near the end something happened that to me (maybe there hints that I didn't notice) came out of nowhere.spoiler*
At the final battle there two people of the Raiders that knew she was the princerella, one that tried to kill her and another that saved her. And seriously where did that come from? On the chapters with her point of view there was no hints (I think) that she though someone from the Raiders suspected she was the princerella, and suddenly one tries to kil her and the other saves her. And she thinks that she suspected that someone knew her identity.
A middle grade retelling of Little Red Riding Hood.
There was a lot of mentions to other fairy tales. I liked the journey that Red took, her interactions with other characters and their stories.
I didn't like the reason she was making the journey and her denial about death. She goes on a journey to look for a way to make her grandma not die, but she leaves her alone while she is sick and spends days away. Which to me makes no sense, if she was really worried her sickness she wouldn't go away and leaver the grandma alone, possible diying while she was away.
If this was not a middle grade the grandma problably would have died before she came back or soon after she came.
This book was not waht I was expecting because of the synopsis. I though we would follow the Princerella and her journey after becoming an orphan, but we follow a lot of other characters and the queen, only following her more near the end of the book. Also the queen took a lot longer to die then I though (more than 50% of the book).
I liked all the characters and the world building. I was a little confused about the spirits? (gods?) and their roles in the magic of the world, but slwly I began to understand more of the world.
I really enjoyed the story of the book, but I hated the writing style.
There was four ppint of views, all in first person. And we mostly just read the thoughts of our characters and what are they feeling, there are almost no conversations. And when there were I felt they were lacking because they only happened between two characters, there was almost no interaction between the four charcaters at the same time.
There were also a lot of minor time skips that happened when chapters changed between characters, so we lost of interactions that I wanted to see.
Rei Arthur e os cavaleiros da Távola Redonda: edição comentada e ilustrada
I definitily not going to read another book by this author, I really did not like his writing style. It was like reading a wikipedia page but ten times worse.
He also made me dislike or pity all the character in the book, while he was trying to make the readers like them.
Arthur is a creepy, Gawaine is a like a moody teenager, Merlin is a creeoy toward beautiful young girls, Pellias was tricked and kidnapped (but it was made to look like it was an honour that he was able to go to the fairy world) and Guinivere is just there.
This makes me hesitate to read any other arthurian legends books.
I loved this book. If you can handle gore (descriptions of blood and organs, etc) read this book.
We follow a cast characters where people start to gain powers and a lot of creatures that no human knew to exist start to appear, some of the creatures wants to kill the humans while others want them to coexist together. The world is very interisting and I wanted to know what was going to happen next all the time.
The book is easy to read, since I managed to read 360 pages in one day (normally I read 20-50 pages a day).
This book has 4 awesome female characters that have point of views (2 of them we get only one chapter with their point of view).
There also gay characters, there was a random couple of guys that are married, and one the main characters is gay. And no one seems care about that, besides the fact if he is going to be able to date the guy he likes.
I need more fantasy books like this where there is more than one girl “that is not like others girls” (or the wife or daughter) and there are lgbtq+ characters.
I have conflicting thoughts about this book. I read this book a couple times, but this time (2020) I didn't enjoy the book as much. I don't know if this is because I read it in German and since this is a language I'm still learning, it took a lot of time and effort to read it, so I didn???t enjoy it as much or because it just wasn't as good as I remembered.
First, I thought this book was middle grade, but it is in fact Young Adult, and even though there is no romance (a positive thing for me), I was not in the right mindset to read a Young Adult book, especially since last year I have been avoiding YA books.
Second, the characters are one-dimensional, and they don't have a lot of development, not only in this book, but in the rest of the series as well. The thing that is well developed is the bond of characters as a crew, as a unit, instead of individual growth.
I guess I just was expecting too much of this book and it didn't deliver it. Overall, this is not a bad book, but it is not perfect either.
I will probably not continue with my reread of this series, because I don't want to lose my positive experience I had with this series when I was younger.
Old rating: 5???
New Rating: 3.5 ???
3.5*
This book was a bit of disappintment after Elantris which I gave 5 stars, since a lot of people said that mistborn was better than elantris.
I knew from the the beggining of the second part that I wouldn't give this book 5 stars, because it skipped over most of the training of Vin in her Allomantic powers. We see her knowing nothing about powers to being fairly competent after the time skip. I just wanted to see her develop her powers.
I also didn't feel like everyone was close to one another. Besides the meetings where they discussed their plans and some one on one training of Vin and someone else of the crew, we didn't see Vin interacting with anyone besides Kelsier and Sazed. (and one more character that wasn't part of the crew). And supossedely by the end of the book she was close to the crew, how?
Overall I liked the plot of the book, but I felt that most of the character interactions were cut out of the book. I will problably read the next book of this trilogy, but with my expectations very much lowered. I hope Brandon Sanderson other books are more like Elantris, than The Final Empire.
The book was easier to read than I thought it would be. What helped make the book easier to understand was reading the introductions and the explanations that the professor gave.
I also researched in the internet names of entities and gods that I didn't know who they were.
This book was very gore, with a lot of blood and the descriptions of the injuries that led to dead.
This is a fast paced book, one thing after another happening.
I think this book is more of a 4 star rating, but this was the first book in a really long time that I read so quickly. I read the first 150 pages on one sitting and finished the rest on the next day (usually I only read 50 pages of a book per day or less). So since I read it so fast and enjoyed it, I gave it 5 stars.
*4.5
This is the last book of the first arc of this series and we follow Sunny. I really liked seeing her growth through the book. I though the resolution of the war was a little unbeliaveble, and that everything ended to perfectly.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to continue reading more books set in this world.
My first Jane Austen book. I really liked the narrator and the main character. I enjoyed the first half of the book, but after they went to Northanger Abbey, I started to lose interest.
I was not expecting the ending. Since the narrator describes our main character as a heroine, I was expecting more of a adventure book (and forgot that this was a Jane Austen book, so a romance), but what the narrator meant was that she was the main character of her romance story. So when she got engaged, I was surprised and not expecting that at all.
