Tina knows that she is destined for the stars, she just wishes they would hurry up and come and pick her up. When they do she is put into a huge war between the Compassion and the Royal Fleet. Along with a few other earthlings who are the brightest young adults on Earth.
I had to suspend some of my disbelief on the “new cadets” being smarter and more able than the regular crew of the starships. The story held my interest after I surrendered to that fact. The story was definitely different from other space operas that I have read. I will look forward to more in the series and seeing how the “cadets” develop into their skills.
Nell Harris goes to Prague for a job but she finds out that they want her for some other reason. They found out she is a “Charmer” and want her to help save a young boy named Damien. She refuses because the last time she used her power terrible things happened. She meets Adrian, a “dark one” and gets swept away by him and trying to destroy a demon named Asmodeus.
I loved the character of Nell. She really was funny. Many references to Buffy the vampire slayer in this as well.
This book is set in England doing a reality TV show that recreates Victorian England. The main character is not skinny and definitely has body issues. I could see this as a Lifetime movie. Really fun read.
Another excellent installment in this series. Love the interaction between the Aisling and Jim the dog.
I absolutely loved this book. It was fast moving and entertaining. The premise is very different from what I have read in the past. I put it off for quite a while and now I don't know why. I have to read her other books. I was so happy that Claire finally found love. She really deserved it. I kind of saw David coming into the picture and trying to ruin everything but I didn't expect the outcome that happened. I think he saw himself going to jail and becoming someone's bitch LOL.
I don't usually read romances but this was recommended to me. I totally loved it. It wasn't too sappy and had some humor in it. There were no sex scenes. The situations seemed very real. I will definitely check out some more of this author's work in the future.
Hannah gives a homeless man some food in exchange for work only to find him later passed out and having amnesia. Hannah and her friends go about trying to figure out who the homeless guy is and what happened to him. Lots of Christmas spirit in this one. Lots of delicious recipes as well. It seems about a quarter of the book is dedicated to them. But that is what we expect from Joanne Fluke isn't it. LOL. Another winner as well as an uplifting story.
I really loved this story. It keeps you entertained throughout the story. Eve is not your normal 12 year old girl. She is caught shoplifting and is brought to the police and gets an advocate since she is underage with no parents. What follows is her telling her story in a series of interviews.
This story takes place after a human-fae war. The fae have to register and get visas to visit and stay in the human world.
Alex Blackwood who is a metalworker has a friend that turned out to be half-fae who has fae artifacts that causes his murder. While Alex is trying to understand why she didn't know about Aiden she has to confront the fact that someone is trying to kill her because they think she has info on a particular fae artifact.
I really enjoyed this world which is different from others that include Fae or Fairy people. I am looking forward to reading the next in the series.
Casey wakes up in a jail cell not remembering how she got there or why. Her sister Wanda who is a werevamp, tries to figure out what happened. It turns out demon blood got on her and now Casey is a demon. Now she needs to find a way not to go Hell. This a fun series. I look forward to the next one and what someone accidentally becomes.
This was a fun read. Elatsoe is an Apache young adult in a slightly stranger America. There are ghosts, vampires, bringing the dead back to life, and other magical paranormal skills. Ellie has a ghost dog that protects her. Her cousin is killed in an automobile accident but Elatsoe doesn't think it was an accident and goes about trying to solve it. I hope there are more stories in this world.
This book started out really good but slowed toward the middle. If you just plod on it becomes important later. It is worth the wait.
The main character Flavia de Luce has come back home from school in Canada. It is set in around the time after WWII. It is hard to imagine Flavia being only 12 years old the way she speaks she sounds much older. But she is a precocious young lady seeming to have a habit of finding dead bodies and then going about trying to solve the mystery. Once I got past the bizarre and off putting way she speaks I did enjoy the mystery unfolding. She travels all over the place alone and in very bad weather in which no one seems to think odd or to care. Her family is very distant to her and her father is in the hospital. Her mother has passed away. The only one who seems to care about her is Dogger her family's butler and some neighbors and acquaintances.
Coming in to the story at book 8 was probably not the best beginning because I am sure stuff got explained along the way. But eventually I got the hang of the story and started to enjoy it.
I received this book free from the publisher for an honest review.
This was an interesting listen. The author goes through many different television shows and movies to prove or disprove the science behind the technology in the shows. I learned a few things and this is probably one I will listen to again because its so much info packed into 4 hours.
This was a wonderfully gothic story. It has unexpected love, ghosts, magic, and madness.
Jane Shoringfield has decided that she will marry Augustine Lawrence as a marriage of convenience for them both. He finally agrees with the one thing that she must never do. She must never spend the night at his home Lindridge Hall. Of course, you know that that doesn't last long and of course, there are ghosts of all sorts and weird behaviors of her new husband and the staff.
I couldn't put the book down but occasionally could not read it at night. Just enough spookiness combined with logical explanations and a touch of the arcane magic to make it the perfect book for me without scaring me too much. No gore if don't count surgeries explained a bit too well.
I look forward to more of this author's work.
Thank you to the publisher for sending me an advanced copy of this book for an honest review. I will be buying copies of this for friends.
This was one of the better of the Buffy novels. Lots of suspense and problems to figure out.
This was an excellent book. You can tell it was very thoroughly researched. But it was not dry at all. The story kept building and made me want to keep reading it or actually listening to it because I did it as an audible book. The narrator was excellent and did the voices very well so that I knew right away who was speaking.
This installment of the series was okay, not great, not bad. It didn't have a lot of plot just sort of moves the series along.
This book was fascinating. I listened to the audiobook and the author narrates it beautifully.
this is the second time reading this book and I still love it if not more than earlier reading. I did the audio book and it was done so great you forgot that it was just one person doing all the characters.
Somebody is kidnapping and torturing women and writing the time they lasted on their body. This is similar to a case Eve was involved in many years ago. Unfortunately they are picking women all involved with Roarke so he's taking this very personally. Peabody and Ian are so funny like usual in this book. Although they seem to be annoying Eve a bit less. On to the next book.
This was such a wonderful read. I fell in love with the children as well as Linus the investigator. It is really well narrated as an audiobook as well. I am going to have to check out this author's other books.
Review: Sunshine Vicram was elected Sheriff without even running thanks to her parents. Sunshine and her daughter move back to Del Sol, New Mexico. Soon she is involved with a child kidnapper and facing her past and trying to put the missing pieces together.
I loved this story and the characters.
