Poignant. Haunting. Painfully honest. You feel Judy's and Mackenzie's pain almost as if you were there holding their hands through it - except you can't be. Unless you have been in their shoes, there is no way to truly comprehend what either of them is going through. Well written, very insightful into a world many read about and many watch on television but few actually live. This is a story of mistakes, injustice, and a mother's unconditional love.
You know where you stand through the entire book. You feel EVERYTHING! You want things to change for the main female character (FMC) & at times, you want to toss your book/e-reader across the room. It is definitely a book I wish I could read again for the first time.
This came highly recommended to me. I have to say, it was a tough read. What I mean by tough, is that as a childhood abuse survivor, I found myself reliving, reflecting. and pondering a lot of memories.
It is a well written book & I applaud the author for putting everything out there and for sharing her experience.
I won a digital copy of this book through The StoryGraph. It was a surprisingly fun read.
The daughter's interactions and attitude toward her mother were like nails.on a chalkboard for me.
