I enjoyed a lot about this book, but Heller's stream of consciousness type narrative was a bit broken for me. Still, setting and moments that were vivid and real.

Will be attending a two-day Sladek conference this month for work. Read this book in preparation. Will also be reading another of her entries in the next week or so. While it was interesting information, I did not feel that it was information that was not already known to me.

This is well written, but just not for me.

A reread for me of this exploration of the multiverse and a reintroduction to the little bald doctors that make the world go round for the purpose and the random.

Johnson writes with absolute clarity and originality. There are small wonders throughout this novella, and sentences to be read and reread. A meditation on loss and loneliness and the wonder of our existence in the first place.

*4.5 stars. Unique and touching. A searching portrait of coping and grieving and loving. Vivid characters and a wonderfully sad but uplifting story.

*4.5 stars. This is not for the faint of heart or the squeamish, but, my goodness this was riveting and well done.

True to form, McCarthy's melancholic, devastating view of humanity pervades this engrossing drama. Echoes of Blood Meridian, with his trademark fatalism beautifully wrought in fully imagined characters.

Atmospheric and well drawn. I really love Cameron's writing style and the little tensions he builds upon to create unique insights into character and relationships.

Wonderful. Evocative and spellbinding. I loved this world and characters. Groff's sentences are poetry.

*2.5 I'm giving this a mercy 2.5 because I adore Garrison Keillor and despite the monotony, I still chuckled at some of his screwball characterizations and his cleverness. That said, Guy Noir needs to remain a radio show sketch - he just doesn't translate to the page all that well.

Enjoyed it more in this reread. Christmas fun.

A reread of one of my favorites by one of my favorites. All the right notes.

Longworth drives home the beautiful and unique Aix en Provence in the first of the Verlaque and Bonnet mystery series. Provence alone is worth the read, but her characters begin to take shape and there is enough mystery to drive the narrative.

This was a re-read of a classic. Simple and joyful. The rest of the series awaits!

*4.5 stars - full review to come.

May take 1/2 a star away when I finalize my review, but a very worthy follow-up and loads of twisted fun.

Brutal, raw and bizarre. But highly readable.
