I just picked this book up but I have a comment about the cover. At first glance I thought I had grabbed the wrong book because the hot dude on the front looked like a muscular chick in an orange tank top...lol
Let me start by saying that by no means is this a “bad” book, I just thought it would be more “adult” than what it is. Even though these charters are 20ish years old, I really think I will appeal to a young adult audience.
I liked Jane, the main character. She seems to be a well rounded, moral person. She does tend to sacrifice her own best interest for that of others. The male love interest, Colt (I think that is his name), was slightly boring for me, but like the book itself, I think a younger audience will have a different opinion of him. He seemed too one dimensional, and young (there is that word again).
Where I was most disappointed was with the romance. This is cleanish, so no dirty sex scenes. Their love was way too quick developing, no chemistry, no build up, it was just instantaneous. Hey, your pretty I love you type of love.
What saved this for me? Well, after all I mentioned, I still have a need to know what happens next, and will at some point continue this series to find out. If I were a younger (that word!) person, I would probably would have given this 4 1/2 stars.
I recieved an electronic copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This book made me cry but also as a child it made me realize I was not invisible. Whenever I was considering doing something stupid and dangerous this book came to mind. It was kind of like my good fairy sitting on my shoulder. To this day at the age of thirty-two I think of this book even though it's been over 20 years since I read this.
It's been obvious for the last couple of books that these two would be paired up. I really did like this book. I just really wanted to see dee Ann with someone a little more alpha.
Let me start with the reason I requested this book. I have two teen/tween girls. They are constantly scouring the internet for new ways to style their hair. Normally, they end up on Youtube, which is fine, but I have seen so much frustrating come from trying to pause, rewind, or slow down the videos they watch. Plus, I hate when they plug their phones/tablets in my bathroom. Toilets and electronics do not mix well.
I really didn't expect this to be as nice and easy to understand as it is. I love this book. I am horrible with hair, I can even accomplish some, maybe most of the styles. This is perfect for athletes who like to braid their hair before games or practice. It was a hit at a slumber party this weekend.
I recommend this to mothers of girls who like their hair done up and you're out of ideas.
I recieved a copy of this through Blogging for Books in exchange for an honest review.
I read this, and two other novels, while travelling out of state to set up funeral arrangements for my father in law. I needed a distraction, this did just that. For that I give much thanks to the author, Elizabeth Bear.
This definitely is much faster paced than the first book. My only complaint about the first was that it felt a bit sluggish, but despite that it was also a great read. While this book could be read without reading the first in series, I don't recommend doing so. Certain aspects would be misses.
Bear is great at character building. They are among some of the most memorable I have read about. I much so have loved reading about Gage in this series. He was once a man, now part automaton. His scenes in this book were very engrossing.
There were questions from the first book which were answered in this, but this book also left questions and loose ends. I am impatiently waiting for the third book for those answers. I am curious to see if I am correct about a few things.
Thank you Netgalley, the publisher, and the author for being allowed to read an arc edition of this book.
Magno Girl, a girl superhero on the tail of a couple of robbers who broke into Fu Chong's Chinese restaurant to steal only a the big bags of rice from the storeroom. At the scene of the crime, she meets
This story is told to us by Ron. Ron is working temporarily as a bouncer at The Crush Club nearby. He is training to be a ninja, and rides a Harley. Ron witnesses a crime. A couple of guys broke into Fu Chong's Chinese restaurant and stole only a bag of rice. Magno Girl, a girl super hero, shows up on scene to help out in any way she can. Ron likes her. He likes her A LOT.
Magno girl, her real name is Magnolia, she owns a martial arts studio. She quit riding motorcycles when she learned to fly.
Magno and Ron set out together to try and solve the crime. Through out the book, Ron is crushing on Magno so hard. I love the way she handles his advances. This story reminds me of a comic book without pictures. I imagine Ron and Magno running around all over the pages and acting out the story as they tell it to me. I love this!
I love both Ron, and Magno. With almost every sentence, the author tells us more about them.

I liked this, but I was so hoping for more action. This is all about the feelings and how the group has progressed since the last book.
I read this with my 12 year old for his summer reading project. Some of the best time we have had in a while.
This book aged well. Being that it is set in the outdoors with an absence of modern, and not so modern technology makes enjoyable and relatable to today's youth.
I recommend this for boys and girls both ages 10 and up. Adults will enjoy this as well. Anyone interested in a book about coming of age surviving in the wild, or just an engaging story.
I love these books. They are packed with so much information. My son brought this home from the school library today. We read it together, but he is still examining the pictures and cool facts.
This is young adult urban fantasy. It is set in a magical London. Sound familiar? It should, this has been done many times. What makes this worth the read is Pollack's ability to be so descriptive that it creeps you out. Like a lot of other reviewers the voice stealing, telephone wire walking spiders will stick with me for a while. So will the mirror dwellers. This city literally is alive.
For fans of Gaiman.
I don't even know how to rate this. This author can write beautifully, but there isn't enough balance to action, romance, dialogue, everything. Way too much dialogue. And every bit of it seemed to be a some sort of witty debate.
There were characters who were written to be hated, and hate them I did. I also saw another side to them though that made me almost feel for them and understand why they were the way they were.
This is is way too long. When I saw the page count I was expecting some major world building, a lot of plot, but no. There was only a girl who was messed up by the death of her mother who felt she needed to set out and save the world to right that wrong, she seemed to think she was a hero though. In the beginning I thought this would be a evil vs good, in way it was, but it was more about blending the two and seeing good and evil in all.
So so I would call this monster romance, but not the banging Bigfoot kind.
i feel I should add that this is very disturbing. I almost hate this book, but I don't. I don't know what I think of this. I enjoyed hating almost everything about it?!
I for one am glad that Gillian didn't end up with William. I didn't like them together. She is too good for him, he needs a girl who is going to fight him the whole way through. I do very much anticipate his book though.
I really like Puck. I really like Gillian. Without him she would never have had the chance to accomplish all she did in Amaranthia. She grew up, and was able to do so that it was all hers.
I just love this world, one of my favorite series.
This author is seriously talented. This contains 6 short stories. This book is insane, in a goodway.
Shadows Claim, the first Dacians novel is my favorite in this series. I love the ability that these Dacians have. Mostly being able to turn to mist.
I love Cole's writing and the worlds she writes about. I was a bit worried after Sweet Ruin that this series was taking a turn I didn't like. I do wish we had seen more of our favorite characters, but this is only a novella.
A lot of people have issues with this being a m/m. I admit I really wanted a sweet Dacian vampire princess for Cas, but a prince worked. The are good together and the prince really tamed the demon.
As far as story progression goes, this is a cliffhanger! Uhg... really? At least the next comes out soon.
In a nutshell: not my fave but not horrid.
This is intended for children age 0-6.
What an adorable book this is. It is only about 32 pages long, the perfect bedtime story for nights when you are short on time.
This is about a little girl, Mabel. She hates to go to sleep. She will try everything. I have have heard these same things from my children on many occasions...
“I'm thirsty.”
“I need to use the bathroom.”
I recommend this for girls age 0-6. This would have definitely been a favorite for my girls when they were younger.
Laurenston is one of my favorite authors. Whenever I am in need of a book that is guaranteed to slap a smile on my face I usually grab something written by her. Is this book a literary masterpiece? No, but it's damn funny, full of interesting characters, and there is just enough paranormal to keep me interested.
This is a spin-off to the author's Pride series. If you haven't read those, please start there.
Where Laurenston shines is how she writes her characters. They are ALL flawed. They have panic disorders, mommy/daddy issues, crazy families, etc., and they all are shifters. There animal side is very much a part of who they are. These aren't characters that can turn into animals. If they are a bear shifter, they are also bearlike in human form: curious, love honey, don't play well with other breeds. The honey badgers are scrappy, tend to want to take things that aren't theirs, and they also love honey. The focus couple in this are a grizzly bear shifter and a honey badger/wolf hybrid. They are good together. The bear is very patient and is exactly what the hybrid needs considering her crazy family. Her two sisters are a big part of this book because her whole life has been focused on keeping them safe, mostly from their asshat of a father.
A lot of this story is set up for future stories. Normally have a hard time getting through a book like this, but not this one. Laurenston's characters are so cool I enjoyed being introduced to each one of them, and there are quite a few.
While led this is a romance book, there wasn't a lot of focus on the couple. I was okay with that, but I do feel like I would have liked to see them interact more. More times where he was a hero for her, he did, but I wanted more of him crushing bad guys with his bear strength.
Really recommend this book, actually all books written by this author.

This shows you how to build different apparatuses to send different items shooting in the air! It is AMAZING. I have always had a liking for this type of thing. I got in trouble in high school for building a pipe bomb. NO LECTURES, I know it's dangerous! This fuels the pyro/adreneline junkie side of my personality with easy to follow instructions, nice graphics to help to instruct, and so many option as to send things flying through the air. This is a must have for all you who want to know the fundementals to this. Do it the safest way possible and follow the directions.
I forsee so many fun spent summer afternoons in my future! Summer fun with the family (the marshmallow guns!).
Thank you so much Edelweiss for providing a review copy of this!
I like this much more than I thought I would. I was really interested in Charles and his Omega, Anna, while reading Mercy's books. They are as interesting as I thought they would be.
This is okay. I liked some of it, but other parts feel like they were added in for girth.
What we have here is an alphabetical listing of advice/guide for those who are “on the spectrum:” Autism, ADHD, Aspberger's Syndrome, etc. In my opinion this isn't specifically for that though. Some of this is good advice for people in general. I do want to add that I think there are a lot more people in our society that are on the spectrum than we are aware of. They just don't get help for their tendencies. I wish some of this advice were maybe backed up by stories from people living on the spectrum.
Some of this was amusing, but felt like general ranting (which I am not saying is a bad thing):
Arranging things (see OCD) I recently saw a TV show where a forensic psychologist implied that a man was a psychopathic killer by asking him if he arranged his socks by color in a drawer. Aunt Aspie was was shocked and appalled! If arranging things were aa system of mental dysfunction, imagine hoe difficult buying groceries would be... “Excuse me, can you tell me where your pasta is?” “I don't know lady, your guess is as good as mine... somewhere.” Neatness and tidiness means there is one less thing to confuse us in our day.
Some of us take it to an extreme level. Those people make good overseers, organizers, engineers, teachers...
The entire time I was reading this I kept picturing Tyler Perry's Madea reading this book to me. To be honest, it was quite entertaining to imagine.
My main problem was the formatting of my ecopy. The ABC's were not bold, at times I found it almost difficult to decipher between one topic to the next. I reslly had to pay attention when a simple use of bold would have sufficed.
For each letter there is more than one topic, often times there are quite a few. Examples: Gender Issues, Sex, Relationships, Self-Pity...
Recommendation:
There is quite a bit of good information here. I think this would be of great help to a family member wanting some understanding without feeling overwhelmed, or someone just needing something funny to lighten a recent diagnosis.

Let me start by saying that the first book in this series was not a hit for me. This one, I love.
This is what I expect from Laurenston. The characters in this book are warriors of Norse Gods. I love the banter and interactions between Jace and Ski, the author is amazing at dialogue and character developement. Ski, a Protector who I I fell in love with almost immediately, is Protector of the Word for the Protectors, meaning he gets to control and protect an amazing library of ancient texts. He is VERY protective of his books, and threatened bodily dismemberment to all who touched them if they hurt them. Jace is a berserker crow, there is a scene where she flips out and goes all berserker that i just love. She has a vast knowledge of language. She is hired by the Ski to translate some of the books they had aquired. Sparks fly, love blossoms, and sweat drips while they bump uglies!
If you like paranormal romance with a large dose of humor, read this. If you haven't tried Laurenston before, WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?
It felt like it was missing half the pages. I really thought I would enjoy it. The first chapter or two was nice but it was all down hill from there.
I liked this and am giving it 4 stars hoping that the first book is as good, but I will admit that I am a bit confused and wish I would have read the first book before reading this.
This is great for someone who had memories involving racetracks of the past in search of a bit of nostalgia. I especially liked the way this is set up. There is so much history and information in this. It is well written and the photographs used add so much. Great job. Highly recommend.
