The beginning of the book. It gave so much promise. It read like a good ass werewolf story. I was eager to sink my teeth into. All puns intended.2. The fact the story had me gag once. It isn't often a book does that to me. Kudos. 3. They guessing game on who the OG werewolf was. I liked that I had to bounce around trying to figure who it was. I kind of got it towards the middle-ish? A bit after but even then I wasn't 100% sure.Things I was meh about. Like it wasn't bad but it wasn't something I would say I liked or cared for. It was so damn weird to mix in with a werewolf story. Like... let me try and tell you the hardships of being a woman while I slap a werewolf in the mix but don't mix it. Let me just have these two things be sitting in the same bowl. Can't make fucking brownies unless you mix everything in the damn bowl, Rachel. That wasn't my biggest issue and honestly I wasn't too annoyed with it.What I didn't like:1. Making excuses for why it is okay for women to cheat. That is all I am saying. Then having Rory be pissed at some guy she thought cheated on her when in fucking reality she was too much of a fucking child to hold a goddamn conversation. And bonus they weren't going out but then did some shit with someone and... hunkydoory? Like bitch you went and cheat and IDFC what midlife crisis you were in.2. Being toxic as a woman is okay. 3. You not judging but judging a woman who actually likes being a mom and wife while saying it is okay for a pregnant woman to not want the baby and think her life is over? Which don't get me wrong, being pregnant is a big deal. There are a lot of scary factors that go into it. I, personally, won't be trying for a baby but at the same time I am not going to be a bitchy judge ass about it?4. Rory being SO AWFUL. Rory is this cool woman who works in the fucking city and she goes into meetings to tell people how fucking wrong they are. Like, ohh good for you for being... what? A bitch? It is one thing to be a boss ass bitch and another to just be a bitch. Idc if you are a city girl... how Rachel worded it made Rory out to be that popular POS in high school that bullied you.5. Rory is supposedly sooo fucking smart yet ssooo stupid at the same time. How she treated Matty and Ian in this whole damn book was just so trashy. 6. What happened to Rory as a child was horrible hands down and her being pissed at her mother so justifiable. Scarlet though? Mmm I disliked her so much as the book went on. 7. Rory knew something was up with her sis. You know how when something happens to a woman, like a fight or some shit with her boyfriend, and people are like... well what did the woman do wrong? Like you victim blaming? That is what Rory did for a good chunk of the book. 8. How Rory bitched that Matty's mom did a shit job in raising her son yet her mom, who did shitty things, has her girls and... what? 9. This isn't horror at all. The horror in here is so minimal and low. It could be a Goosebumps book.. but like the lower scale of it. Or it could be how horrid this book was that could be the horror.Edit: Wanted to not now that at the end of the day I don't hate Rory. She has her trauma. It is Rachel and her double standards and toxic views that really fucked up the book.

Nothing in this story added flavor. Well, let me back up. I did like the beginning a lot, which is why it is a 2 instead of a 1. The only horror was in the beginning. Everything else was just... something you have seen a million times. Not only that Leopoldo writing on women's struggles while making the mother the most basic man-written female just... pisses me off. But when Miri meets up with the sister who knows what is going on do we get to hear it? No... we are literally left in the dark. Also the ending? I don't even know. If the whole book was just the mother's view I would have rated it higher. I feel bad for even comparing it to The Craft. Actually this book sucked so hard you could say it was like the sequel. Both were utter trash. It started out so strong and fizzled into a shit pile, and that is putting it nicely.
I know I rated it a 2.13 but I am rounding down to a 1. The cover is gorgeous but the story is utter trash and it doesn't deserve even a 2.
**SPOILERS FROM THIS POINT DOWN**
Ivy, which I hate to share a name with, is a self-centered brat. She is a good reason why having a kid sounds horrible. Ivy is a brat who thinks of herself over others. Instead of letting her mother explained she ended up just being a grade A Bitch about EVERYTHING. Even till the end when she shared the same guilt as her mom. I get the whole wanting your mom to feel proud of you and the like but at the end of the day if you can't even admit to her being right to a certain degree you are a child and should be treated as such.
And this is why I don't do YA's because 9/10 the main character is Mary Sue/ Gary Stu.

I had have decided to give all books at least 100 pages before I choose to close it. The first bit made no sense as to why it should be there. It kinda got political, which... it didn't need to be. It really didn't add to the story at all. Same with most of the back story we got for Thiago. 95% of what was given wasn't used or needed. We got maybe one or two very non detailed bits from it, which should have been detailed. Some of the Spanish used in the book wasn't translated... so I will just... pretend that I knew. Lol I mean I knew a word or two but that's about it. Other than those minor details, wow... what a freaking good horror book! There are some things I wished were explained better and Gus does lead you thinking it has to deal with Itza when it is really... something else? A demon thing? I know that towards the end his father says something about this thing that jumps from generation to generation... though why him and not his other children? Though, maybe it did and it never said. With that out of the way this whole book screamed gothic. If you like Frankenstein and the like you will adore this. I don't care for how it was told but I do see how it did well for the setting of the story. Another thing that got me was I always kept thinking it was in the 1800s or such, but there had been small things to bring me back like cell phones. Lol.
It was cringe to listen to her love a man basically twice her age. Like, love who you want to love but I just couldn't get into her mindset. With that the book was good but it was a dull black instead of a vibrant, if you get what I am saying. Other than that the ending was spooktacular.

Nora is afraid to LIVE. She had wanted to become many things and ended up being alone and depressed and sad. She let fear take over her and all that she dreamed to be has been left behind. When I began to read the book what I feared most was that Nora would be mostly complaining, annoyingly, about EVERYTHING. She does complain but it was... in a way that it went well with the book. As the story progressed I loved how she gets to live the lives she wanted to see where those lives headed and in the end... well the end was beautiful. I don't know what she did after coming back to her original life but I sure hope it was something great!

I was desperately looking for an audiobook for my road trip because I have bad anxiety and audiobooks help a great deal. So when Tiktok kept showing me this book I decided to give it a go and boy did it not disappoint.
For a 6 1/2 hour drive there and back I listened to it with my husband, who by the way doesn't like these types of books, and we both were in love. The scenery from the book went so well with what we were seeing. Addie, Luc, even Henry, but also Remy were fantastic characters. Addie's determination was so witty and inspiring. She was a woman who wanted to live life and not have to settle for some man. I get that. Luc is the dark and mysterious god who is also cruel and a jerk... a lot. Though I couldn't help but fall for him a bit. Then you have sad sad Henry. He just made me depressed but sometimes he had me cheering for him. A lot of people said he was boring but HE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE. He literally made a deal with Luc because he never felt good enough. so to say that he was boring... was the actual point of him.
The only problem I had with the book was the ending. The open ending when she could have written another book or a few more chapters to let us know where she went after Luc was done with her or if he ever was. To me it was lazy.
I would recommend the book to people who look on the outside of the box as well as inside and in between.

The writing was fine, it was the story and the characters that were utter crap. Instead of going really into depth about the witches they just... dealt the overplayed cliché card and it was stupid. It was very much YA and the prophet was all kinds of triggering. The prophet ruined 50% of the book. It was utterly disgusting. Instead of dealing with the pedo murderous prophet she just let them be. Those damn witches had every freaking right to be pissed and Immi was just like NAH their anger isn't justified. Like all those poor girls' suffering was just nothing to care about and I get that things needed to change, which is fine, but the ending was utter trash.

If you like the edge of your seat kind stories I believe this one may be for you. The thrill of who died and who done it had me continuing the story eagerly. I really did like the characters this author decided to bring forth to the forefront. Miranda, Katie, Emma, Doug, and Heather.
Miranda: A snot nose rich evil brat. That is the best that I could describe her.
Katie: Girl in Miranda's shadow. I was listening to the audio so at first, I wasn't sure what kind of person Katie was. I thought she was badass single lady who needed no man... I was kinda wrong about that. Lol.
Emma: An annoying wanna-be. Dear lord, I just wanted to punt her back into her mother's womb.
Doug: I want that man. That is all. All kinds of manly, mysterious, and troubled past.
Heather: She is an ANGEL. She had a sad past but she wooo I want her too. Doug, her, and I.
There are more in the group that doesn't get their own voice. Mark, Julien, Nick, Bo, Samira, and Giles. To be honest it was a lot of people to keep track of. It took me more almost halfway into the book to figure out who was who.
Mark: Emma's boyfriend. Man has his own problems and not in a good way.
Julien: Rich narcissistic prick. He is literally the dumb male version of Miranda. Also Miranda's husband.
Nick: I didn't think he was really problematic. He is gay and dating Bo, who is also unproblematic. Those two were really kind of fresh air in this whole thing.
Samira: Once a wild child, she is now settled with Giles and they have a kid together.
Giles: We know so little of this guy. 1. He is Samira's husband and baby daddy. 2. His past job. (All I can say since it will be a spoiler.) That is literally it.
The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is because of all the characters. I love Nick and Bo, but they really didn't have a place in the story except for... maybe a couple of things? They were there for a bit of back story, but honestly too many characters crowd a story.
To be honest, I wish there was more going on with Doug and Heather... they seem pretty cute together.
