Amazing! Loved this book. Sad I have to wait until the next book is written. Tropes in this book are enemies to lovers, fated mates, morally gray female and male main characters. I thought the world building and plot were unique. Even the secondary characters were great and well written. There is spice 🌶. There is a Pronunciation and World Guide at the back of the book. This book ends on the cliffhanger of all cliffhangers. I am dying to read the 2nd book.
Such a great book! This is a YA Fantasy Adventure. The writing was great and kept me interested the entire time. I loved Briar's character. I liked the building romance. I was able to guess what was going to happen and then noticed that I still had 15% left of the book. At this point I realized there was a twist coming. I definitely didn't see the twists coming. This book has multiple timelines. Sometimes when switching between the tinelines it wasn't immediately clear which timeline we were in until further in the chapter.
The beginning was so well written I was instantly sucked in. Narrator was great and witty. This book has a quality I have recently discovered I love in books. The story begins at the end of the book and you go back in time and see how the story progresses to the end. I thought the world building was great and the plot was unique. Loved all the pop culture references. There is a slow burn romance with Detective Hottie. He is referred to so many times as Detective Hottie that I actually forgot his name. There is a lull in the middle and I found the character Fibs of minimal value to the story.
I loved Jane and was invested into her story. The pacing was slow at parts. The plot went from point A to point B. It left very little room for details and was centralized around the relationship with the captain. I kept waiting and waiting for the captain to discovered her secret but it lacked impact once it did happen. I was devastated when Harry died. The emotion was well described and raw.
I saw the author talking about this book on Tiktok and she was so compelling I got the book. This is a historical novel based on the life of the author's great grandmother. Imagine you are living in England during the early 1900's and your mom packs you a bag and leaves you standing on a street corner waiting for a woman from the traveling fair to come and take you. This story is so well written and gives you insight into what life was like for the poor in England.  The attention to detail had me so engrossed in the story. There were parts of this book that will stay with me for awhile. I only wish there was more variation as it was mainly even keel throughout. Â
I immediately zeroed in on the brother. Then the narrator leads you to the boyfriend so I think ok maybe I was wrong about the brother. The author does a good job with breadcrumbs that lead you to where she wants you. In the end we learn the brother really did do it and that the boyfriend had nothing to do with it. There is also a surprise character involved that I hadn't suspected. It was slow in parts that made it feel longer then it was. Also, the mother who is non-verbal due to an self inflicted injury was able to communicate with Chloe after 20 years. This was so unbelievable. This would be a good book for someone just getting into thrillers.
Contemporary romance, with fake relationship, & opposites attract. Good plot. I loved Anna, but Phillip was a bit dry. I liked some of the secondary characters. There is some spice. There is a lot of Irish slang and if you are struggling to understand there is a great glossary in the back of the book. This book is dialog rich which I struggle with as I prefer descriptive rich books. There were some parts that would have benefited from being more showing then telling. Overall good book. I received this book as an ARC.
This book made me realize that I root for the flawed individuals. I had a hard time connecting with the MC because she was too well put togther for a high school student. She knew exactly who she was, she knew exactly what she wanted, she was clear in telling people what she wanted, and she had boundaries. I had a hard time rooting for her because she was literally her own cheerleader. She spent a significant amount of time in a relationship with an individual other then her best friend so I was more invested in that relationship because the whole book was more involved with that relationship. I thought that the friendships between the 6 were very cute. I didn't love the book and I didn't hate the book. There were some very cute quotes in the book about who makes up family that I absolutely loved. I received this book as an ARC.
This was a book I didn't know I needed or wanted, but I am so glad that the author wrote. This author has now become an automatic read for me. This book is completely different from the first two books as they were about witches and vampires and centered around the two main characters. This book is about shifter and vampires and centers around secondary characters. The world building and magic system explanations are amazing. There is also lots of amazing spice. This book grabs your attention and holds it for the entire time. The author could write nutrition labels and I would find it fascinating. I received this book as an ARC.
This gave me Disney vibes. I kept imagining that the forest it took place in was the same one as Beauty and The Beast. The only difference is the main character is more sassy and there is spice that Disney wouldn't allow. This has enemies to lovers, fae, and a female evil villain. This is a dark retelling of sleeping beauty. The difference is sleeping beauties story ends as she wakes up where Thorne's is just beginning. The main character is Thorne, whose name I absolutely love. She is sassy, brave, independent, and she learns to fight. Just when you think you know what is going to happen next a new twist or turn happens. My only issue with this book is that I love everything tied up nice and neat at the end and there was one thing that I wish was different.
Scarsdale Publishing reached out and asked if I would be interested in reviewing this book. Which I obviously said absolutely. The story follows Nou and her family's struggles fleeing from Laos after the Viet Nam War. This book will not be for everyone. The writing style is short and succinct sentences which will turn some readers off. If you can see beyond that you will be rewarded with a great story. While this is historical fiction the story is based off of the experiences of the author, her husband, and their families. This story is devastating and I had to stop reading it one day as I was just sobbing. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the ending and it was because I didn't get any resolution as I wanted more of the story.
Not sure why no one is talking about this book. If you know one thing about me know I love cute shoes & boots. This cover is sexy as hell. I read the first paragraph and knew I was going to enjoy this book. I was expecting this to be a mystery, but I was pleasantly surprised to find there was also romance & humor. This book was light and fun. Coming off of the dense emotions from Flock this was the perfect palate cleanser. It is written in such a way that you feel like you are actually right there experiencing everything next to the main character. At the end of the book I found myself protectively coving my nipples with my hands due to something a character said. I also did not see the plot twist at the end coming at all.
This book has a totally different vibe then the first book. The first book was the bachelor trope with fated mates and witches and vampires while this book is enemies to lovers while fated mates with witches, vampires, shifters, & fae. K.M. Rives writing style draws you in. She could write nutrition labels and I would find it fascinating. The world building is fantastic and the characters are very well developed, even the secondary characters have a lot of depth to them. Augustine was frustrating in this book.
The world building is impeccable and I don't think I have seen better in any book. The female main character is strong and fierce while being kind. My 2 mini complaints are the book is very long and there is repetitive phrasing. I would encourage anyone to read this book. Side note: there is an organizational chart in the back that explains who each character is.
This is a good YA fantasy book. This is geared towards a younger population. I wish this series was around when I was younger as this would have been a series I devoured. It has all the requirements I enjoyed, high school aged characters, a love interest, and paranormal characters and elements. I really enjoyed the relationship between Hanna and Brandon. It had a realistic development and felt genuine. I wish the relationships with Hannah's family members seemed as developed as the relationships of Hanna's peers. I had an issue with the pacing. When I discuss pacing I usually say it was too slow but I had the opposite issue. The pacing seemed lightning fast. I actually reread a couple of parts because I thought I had accidentally skipped over a section
The cover of the book makes me want to be where she is. This book is dialogue rich which is always a challenge for me to connect with characters. I need more of a description rich type of book to imagine the story in my head. I really enjoyed the character development of Eira as she went from meek to fierce. I wanted more drama between Eira and Eshe, it started but it just kind of fizzled out. The slow pace of the beginning was a hurdle that the rest of the book never really overcame. The ending I did not enjoy. Not because of what happened, but because of how it was written. It was blunt and then you were left with nothing.
Witches, vampires, fated mates, and the bachelor trope. I will start by saying I was devastated that there was no actual bacheloring in this book. That would have bumped this to a 5. This book sucked me in and I had a hard time putting it down. I can't wait to read the next book.
Adult Hunger Games with spice and magical beings. A dragon, a necromancer, a blood witch, a shifter, and a warlock. How could you go wrong? Greer Roberts, a human, was entered into the Immortality Trials without her knowledge to compete with magical beings. Humans never won the Immortality Trials and it usually cost them their lives or servitude to the government. The only way to get out of competing in the Immortality Trials is to investigate and prove that she didn't sign herself up and identify who did. This book was hard to put down. The spice was great, Chapter 18 my friends. The characters were well fleshed out. I wish there was more of Andromeda in the book, she was such a cute character. The only issue I had was the solutions to problems came too easily for Greer. Either someone else addressed the issue or Greer came up with the solution with minimal effort.
Gave me old school Star Trek vibes. Geared towards a younger YA audience.  Perfect for lovers of Sci-Fi and space exploration.  I loved the concept of the book, but the writing lacked enough details to fully hold my interest.  Jake was a good character, but he needed more substance. I received this book as an ARC from Netgalley.
Odyssey Books asked if I would review a copy of this book. This book had me stopping what I was doing to listen what was going to happen next. This book was dialogue rich which is usually not my preferred style but there was enough descriptive details that it didn't hinder the book. I thought the characters were adorable. I am a little mad at myself as I didn't read the previous books and I liked this book so much that I ruined the other books. I would have liked a little more backstory in the beginning of the book.
After 65 years, Al Locke travels back to Wales to reconnect with Elin Jenkins, his ex fiancé.  The book's name change fit the book much better. The cover is beautiful. This book was just not for me. I just didn't connect with any of the characters.  I received this ARC from Netgalley.Â
When I found out A.R. Rose was writing a book I was excited. I joined her reader group and when she sent out a teaser I was done for. I knew this book was going to be amazing and I couldn't wait. When it hit my inbox I lost my crap. I devoured this book in 2 days. It is a dual point of view, second chance romance, slow burn, with spice and an alpha male. This book is so well written and amazing and it is by a debut author. In the book not only do you meet Elle and Ryder in this book, but you also get introduced to the characters for the second book. The fire scene devastated me.
The Paris Network is a brilliant tale weaved between the past and the future. It follows Laurence, a bookstore owner, in France during WWII and Jeanne, a retired police detective, living in the US in 1993. I know it sounds like a weird combination, but you quickly learn the connection and are intent on finding out more. Laurence runs a small book store in her small town where she prescribes books to lighten the heavy burden of life. When Germany occupies her small town and begins banning books, Laurence starts a secret bookclubb to help cope. They read books that are banned as a way to resist. When reading banned books doesn't seem like enough anymore, Laurence finds herself diving deeper into the resistance. Â
After Jeanne's mother's death and while trying to reconcile while her mother always held her at a distance, Jeanne learns about a shocking secret. She travels to France with her father to help uncover the secrets from their shared past. I received an ARC from Netgalley. This book gives you a perspective of what it was like to live under German occupation. The dual timelines were easy to follow. Siobhan Curham dove deep into the emotions of the characters addressing all of the difficult topics that come along with war. I was emotionally devasted for the rest of the day when I finished reading this. My only criticism is that the book was a slow starter and focused more on Laurence in the beginning. I didn't feel the connect to Laurence until her character develops more later in the book. I was missing the dual timeline aspect in the beginning of the book that made it magical later on.
I really enjoy the writing style of Sarah J. Maas. I will definitely be reading her other books. I loved this book. It felt easier and flowed better then the first partly because the relationship with Rhys was more natural than Tamlin. Tamlin locking her up had me so heated. I was shouting I knew it when Tamlin and Lucien were working with Hybern. I would like to move to Velaris. It sounded like the epitome of peace. I found a new villian to hate the human queens collectively. I like that Feyre has come into her powers and is stronger then many know. I loved that her kindness to the wraith was paid back by saving her life. I hated how this book sent her babk to Tamlin. I am eagerly anticipating reading the next book to see if Cassian and Nessa have a thing, what becomes of Lucien and Elain since they are mates, what comes of the war with Hybern, and I pray Feyre gets her revenge on Tamlin. Side note: I am so sad for Feyre, Nessa, and Elain's father. He now has 3 fairy daughters and he doesn't even know yet.
Short and sweet. This is the second book in the series. After you read the book the author explains that she wrote this book because everyone kept asking what happened to Lily and Atlas. She realized that everyone was looking for the happy ending. What I loved so much about the first book was the raw and realness of it. So to get this book and it be a happy ending where everything is tied up nicely with a bow it just didn't work for me and it wasn't what I was expecting.
