3.5/5 stars rounded up! I enjoyed this book. It's easy to read, has different compelling PoVs and a magic system and premise for the worldbuilding that is honestly outstanding (specially the latter).
However ☝️, this one got me a bit less than The Drowning Empire did! The relationships between the chapters felt too fast for me, and overall the characters didnt feel as well fleshed out!
Do I recommend this? Yes! I really enjoyed it! I will read whatever Stewart publishes bc her stories are really interesting. But sadly, did not live up to my extremely high expectations!
This was such a great story! Lately I felt that YA fantasy books were falling short, but this one shines. Not only is the story great, but the humor is very on point and the characters interesting! I read this in a few days and absolutely love my time. Recommend if you like a story that goes beyond thieving and really manages to steal a piece of your heart!
Uhhh such a great read. 3 pages full of notes on how much I am loving the plot! Finally we get to see some of Perrin. Egwene completely steals the show for me! My boy Mat didn't disappoint.
Overall very confused about why this book is called Dragon Reborn with only 3 chapters of Rand lol
Can't wait to see what's ahead!
3.5 ⭐️ rounded up! I really wanted to love this book. It had all the elements to be a new favorite: standalone; set in Madrid (which is the city where I live), grey characters, a competition and magic.
But somehow it missed the mark for me! The bad one was very bad, the grey character was so sweet it didn't really wasn't grey for long and overall I didn't connect with the main character Luzia!
It is enjoyable and will for sure delight and be the favorite of a lot of readers! But for me felt more similar to the Shadow & Bone kind of world than Six of Crows!
A solid read! It was very easy to read and I found myself pretty hooked to what was reading, but ultimately the plot was a bit predictable and I wasn't surprised about how the story unfolds.
This didn't stop me from enjoying the story and would recommend if you are looking for something that feels familiar and reads fast!
4.75 stars! This is definitely the cure for any reading slump! It reads so fast, the plot is so intense... that it feels like you are forced to read!
I only regret not having enough time to read this in one string. If you can, schedule this read for when you have some hours! You WILL want that time to keep reading and reading.
3.5 rounded up! This book was certainly something! Felt fresh and very action-packed.
The beginning was phenomenal, but eventually I felt that the the break-neck speed of the book didn't allow for me to connect with the characters, which is very important to me! I sometimes felt like I blinked and suddenly something happened that I missed (even reading this on physical format!), but all in all was entertaining!
I am not dying to get to book 2, but certainly I will read it! I see the good things of this book, which are a lot! I just hope book 2 has a bit more character depth!
I will always enjoy Rebecca Ross's writing style. She has a certain magic that deeply compels me to keep reading!
This is very different book from the first one. It was, in my opinion, predictable but the fact remained that I wanted to read because reading her stories is a joy, not because I was deeply intrigued about what would happen (hopefully this makes sense!)
A good ending to a beautiful story. It has some emotional parts that I am sure will touch a lot of readers and overall is a great YA duology.
4.75/5 stars! I was really obsessed with this book! The pacing, the premise and the characters made it for a very addictive read. It was dark, and it was brutal. And I really enjoyed it!
It reminded me to Babel, filled with complex topics and a high amount of rage.
The only reason it's not a 5 stars (yet, I can always change my mind if I keep thinking about it), it's because
- 1) I saw pretty much of the plot coming (but didn't mind!)
- 2) I came with unreasonable high expectations after Sword of Kaigen, which continues to be my favorite from the author!
