This was really entertaining! Extremely easy to read and get lost into its unique world, but with a magic system that will get your attention!
Read it very fast so I'd say it's perfect as a palette cleanser or to get you out a slump!

Elantris has been my favorite book since I read it in June of 2006. It was the first book of Brandon Sanderson and somehow it made it to Europe fast and my dad got it for me. And I loved it!
I adored the world and the characters!
It became the first book ever to make me cry. And I decided then that this will be my favorite book and Brandon Sanderson my favorite author.
Things remain similar. So no big drama! But I must confess that I approached the re-read of Elantris with fear of not finding what I found so many years ago. Brandon has written ever since a lot of other books and he has clearly become a superior author. But this was his first!
Elantris tells the story of this land where suddenly people can get a terrible sickness - and if they do, they're exiled to Elantris, a place of rot where these people that never die are expected to “live”.
We will find 3 points of view:
- the first one of Roaden, the crown prince that suddenly gets this sickness
- Serene, the betrothed of Raoden, who will need to survive in the court of the king without Raoden and take his place
- Hrathen, a religious figure with a highly dangerous task and very limited time to achieve it.
And now what can I say? Did I love it as much as I did back then? Well... yes and no.
- I did because the majority of the time I relived my memories and was really expecting the book to reach the plot lines that I desperately remembered as amazing.
- But also no, I didn't like it as much. I see how the book has very slow pacing, it's overly religious and a bit cheesy (I can not believe I'm saying this about Brandon Sanderson LOL, no doubt he never again wrote characters that were as romantic as Raoden). I really relied on my memories to help me keep pushing and continue reading, so... yeah. If you're fresh you won't have it and you might like it even less
Overall I still consider this book splendid, but I 100% acknowledge that it's due to my personal history with the book and not the book itself alone!
Glokta was the only one pushing me to finish the book! But unfortunately this wasn't my cup of tea! I'm all here for character-driven books, but I must say I only really enjoyed Glokta's PoV and the rest of the book was a transition until his part!
Not sure if I will continue!
3.5 stars! This time not rounded to 4, sadly! It was alright and I absolutely adored the world and Jacks. But it felt a bit too whimsy and a tad young for me at times.
I loved book 2, but I felt this one was lacking something. Ahhh I hope you love it tho. It is overall a very solid series!
Ahh I am leaning between 3 and 3.5 stars. Here's my spoiler-free video where I explain why: https://youtu.be/p8P2_cEMSlY
In essence: It's fun, reminiscent of Terry Pratchett and with the core trope as Project Hail Mary. So then whyyyyy this isn't a favorite!
Well, because it doesn't seem a Sanderson novel- at least I didn't get the feeling of reading something truly unique and special. It was very average and I wasn't able to connect with the characters!
A shame!

Worth the read! It was a very comfy and cute book. Definitely loved more the robots than Vic (human), which is the only thing stopping it from being a 4 stars.
It gave me so much Wall-e vibes, and I loved it for it. The dialogs of the robots are hilarious, and I found myself laughing multiple times!
The story, however, didn't hook me as I thought it would, and I needed to push myself a bit. But all worth it for the robots, really!
It was fine, I enjoyed it. But it's not my kind of book. I was very engaged at the beginning, but it reached to a point where I already wanted the book to end
You might expect the Year of Sanderson to start with a book with characters as well crafted as in Stormlight Archive, as epic as Mistborn, or with a magic system to rival Warbreaker. But Tress of The Emerald Sea won't be that. It will be the most lighthearted, cozy, and feel-young book in the Cosmere- and I quite liked it!
The thing though is that this doesn't seem like a Sanderson book.
I made an in-depth spoiler free review of Tress of the Emerald Sea in my channel, here's the link in case you want to check it out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78-A9zLaxkY
4,5 leaning towards 5 stars. This was seriously beautiful prose and the absolute best book to read during spooky season
This is the kind of book that benefits from not knowing much! So I'll try to be as vague as possible, while hopefully convincing you to read it!
I really believe that the synopsis downplays how interesting this book is! Yeah, we will have very classic YA tropes (our girl is a special kind of monster and her love interest is, of corse, a monster hunter). But it also really goes above and beyond from it!
Monsters are not paranormal creatures, but rather beings with the ability to travel time by sucking it up from people.
4.75/5 stars! I was really obsessed with this book! The pacing, the premise and the characters made it for a very addictive read. It was dark, and it was brutal. And I really enjoyed it!
It reminded me to Babel, filled with complex topics and a high amount of rage.
The only reason it's not a 5 stars (yet, I can always change my mind if I keep thinking about it), it's because
- 1) I saw pretty much of the plot coming (but didn't mind!)
- 2) I came with unreasonable high expectations after Sword of Kaigen, which continues to be my favorite from the author!
Great conclusion to this amazing trilogy. It ended in a way that I did not expect, but it makes so much sense that it pains me!
I can't wait to discover what else Andrea Stewart has in store for us!
It was a nice read! The story itself is a quest throughout the desert where our main characters will have different adventures & fights!
For me it seemed a bit reminiscent of We Hunt The Flame, with characters & the 3 PoVs of An Ember in the Ashes! So, all in all very entertaining!
Reads almost like YA, with almost 0 romance, which was honestly refreshing!
4.5 stars! This was so sweet & fun at the same time! I loved the dynamics between Nora and Charlie! Straight to the hall of favorite couples!
3.5 rounded up! This book was certainly something! Felt fresh and very action-packed.
The beginning was phenomenal, but eventually I felt that the the break-neck speed of the book didn't allow for me to connect with the characters, which is very important to me! I sometimes felt like I blinked and suddenly something happened that I missed (even reading this on physical format!), but all in all was entertaining!
I am not dying to get to book 2, but certainly I will read it! I see the good things of this book, which are a lot! I just hope book 2 has a bit more character depth!

I really wanted to get to Cytonic! It was one of my most anticipated releases of this season and I was dying for some young adult sci-fi and continue with the story of Spensa.
However. This book felt like a total separated story for me: new world, new characters, new plot. The most interesting parts were the interludes as we got a bit of insight into the core of the story and pretty interesting things happened!
The rest tho... felt like a filler. Not a bad story in itself- we will follow Spensa in a new world where she'll meet some pirates and then will need to train her powers as well as fight for her memories to remain. Sounds cool! But it's just not the story that I spent 2 books reading about and loving!
As usual, Brandon's last 10% of the book almost made it all worth it. Just almost this time!
I'm really hopeful that book 4 will get into the main story tho, so I will continue with the saga
P.S I'm so relieved that Spensa ceased a bit her disposition to say “scud” throughout the book. It really was killing me how often Soensa said it at the beginning
5 stars!!
Oh my goooooshhhh! What C.S Pacat did with my heart all over this book doesn't have a name! This book should get insta-famous. Like, right now! This book is THAT good!
Dark Rise is supposed to be a young adult book. And I definitely can see why one can think that (the fight between the light & darkness, having clear “good” and “villain” characters... and all that). BUT, I really think that it leaned older! The characters are complex enough and the plot turns... well, it turns.
Compelling characters, a very strong beginning, slow-paced loved the middle and a great cliffhanger at the end!

4,5 stars! Jennifer L. Armentrout does it again! She has created yet another book that follows (in my opinion) the same recipe as the From Blood and Ash series, delivering with a prequel that has a thrilling setting, plot, and interesting characters!
I loved this book, don't get me wrong! I thought it was well-paced and it currently had me with book hangover! But the similarities between this book and the FBAA are there! Sera represents in my opinion a more mature (well, at times!) version as compared with Poppy, and Nyktos... well. I just loved Nyktos so much!
The whole world-building is interesting (hello? gods! primals!) and I actually enjoyed it more than The Crown of Gilded Bones! I loved the slow-burn between Sera and Nyktos and how she was brave and committed with her role in life and an absolute bad-ass!
But..... (and spoilers ahead, will separate it with spaces if you haven't read it yet!)
——-
SPOILERS ahead!!
But... I really was hoping for another situation when Sera & Nyktos finally came together. I thought that after spending so much time pining and obsessed with each other, getting together because Nyktos needs to feed and it's the “heat of the moment” was a bit of a bummer! I so wanted that moment to be special and I got a moment of passion where they were actually pretty mad with other! :unacceptable:
Corny! I know... I wasn't expecting it either! (to need a sweeter yet sexy moment)!
And also, really. What's the deal with the nicknames! I just can't believe we went through a Hawke is Cas all over again (well, we didn't because we knew! but Sera and Poppy passed for the exact same thing!)
Anyway! loved it either way
