A very interesting though tough read. A beautiful, complicated poem that requires reading of the footnotes to understand it at all. Dante has weaved many characters and events/places that would be impossible for the average reader to comprehend without help. He hits the mark with his creative states of purgatory and hell.
Excellent read! I enjoyed the read and appreciated the character development. This was a ‘whodunit' with a twist! Usually able to figure it out, the author did a great job keeping me off balance and surprising me at the end.
An enjoyable read. Some places it went on a bit too long but the way he switched narration voices is close to a masterclass. Brought back to mind an episode in NYC that had faded from memory.
Set up as travel story with a trip to San Francisco but they never go west. Amor Towles is a master character builder and the real ‘journey' takes place within the characters. While, not as good as his others, I enjoyed the story.
I found the lack of punctuation distracting and the mythology overdown,
Started good but bogged down terminally. Rankin is great but this one I just didn't like. Excellent character development as usual!
A quick read, where the mundane details of life melt into an escalatiomn of tension. The protagonist narrates from a detached point of view, it is almost like he observing his own life and not fully engaged in what he is swept up in. Campus, who died tragically young in a car accident, hits it out of the park,
I can see how this opening book made the Harry series popular. It was a good read but a bit dragged out but loved the ‘place' harry was in.
It was excellent character development and I needed to find out what would happen. my only complaint was that I didn't get the sense of place that I thought I would as it traded on the decline of the manufacturing belt.
Excellent! Great, captivating plot as well as various interesting subplots. Robinson is a master writer and I have already downloaded another!
Sandford hits the mark with this thriller. It is a fast paced read and though i am a warm weather guy, the setting helped to heighten the fear.
A wide ranging tale, covering various geographies and time periods.
The book provided insight into the Portuguese mindset while weaving through a murder case. Excellent character development, my one criticism is it is too long.
Leon always takes a long time to get the story going but when it does, it's a fun read. This series has been going for a long time for a reason.
Good read and a new series to follow for police procedural fans that also comes with a thriller component!
A long but informative book. Da Vinci is the most fascinating human to have walked the planet. The depth and scope of his explorations and artistry is overwhelming
A collection of Wallandar stories that take the reader back when Wallandar started. They were good, twisty stories and particularly liked the title story. Fans of Mankell and Wallandar won't be disappointed
Not a typical Elmore Leonard novel but still appreciate the way he outlines characters and develops them. He is unquestionably a master at dialogue.
Ending a bit unresolved...
A brilliant point of view and plot (I wish I'd of thought of it!). This is McEwan at his best, he may not be everyone's cup of tea but I think he is both original and entertaining. Some may not fully appreciate his sarcastic commentary on our culture but it resonates with this reader.
Just finished a quick read - The Tumor by John Grisham Not much of a story as its main purpose is to raise awareness of the deadliness of a brain tumor. The book pushes for new less invasive treatments that the Federal Gov, and some in medical community are impeding
