Put your imagination on full throttle for this one! Baker's Man is a silly, magical, sweet story-but it's crazy how fast Anne bakes and how many sweets everyone in this town eats.
I was only reading this because the FB group I joined said I was supposed to, and even though it was honor system I couldn't lie. Luckily it was a very interesting read & Graeme's story was very inspirational. I learned a few helpful things, too. Don't let the grammar mistakes bother you, his enthusiasm to get healthy and break his food addiction were worth the read. Though my story is very different than his, gaining 30 pounds after Jared died, and not being able to shed a pound no matter what I tried, this IF is working. I'm down 10 pounds!!
Dolly the Doodle is back!! Melissa Eastin has done it again! This time Dolly makes it to the ocean and she meets new characters and they show that “We can ALL make a difference,” especially when teamwork is involved. Kids will love the characters and illustrations, and parents, caregivers, & teachers will love the lessons that are learned through such a fun, interactive story!
Beautifully written story about family, friendships, and love told through the eyes of a 101 year old woman. It did get a bit long winded and repetitive, but I still enjoyed it.
“Live your life with an overwhelming sense that God is present in the details all around you.”
Lots going on with the characters and little town in this VERY long story. For me it's really between 2-3 stars.
Oye, where do I start?! The only reason I finished it was because I have really enjoyed some of Bohjalian's books, Midwives, Trans-Sister Radio, and Before you know Kindness-just to name a few. But this one was just a jumbled mess. Things didn't start happening until chapter 20, but I wanted to see how it all wrapped up, and it all ended too hunky dory for me. Sorry, Bohjalian, it must be difficult to live up to your other incredible stories.
Those of you who think coincidences are just that, you need to read this book. God and His angels are all around us. I challenge you to read this book, and Rushnell's others, to think otherwise.
I suppose if you've never read a psychological thriller you would like this story. It is fast paced, lots of twists-lack of honesty and miscommunication, along with stupid stupid people, causes lots of problems. The ending was unexpected, but to believe this character could get away with all that she did is pretty far-fetched.
Love the Penn Cage novels! Greg Ilse's books are lengthy, but worth it. He loves to go into detail about the settings and character's backgrounds. He always has a character you want to stand up for as well as one you hope gets it in the end.
A sweet story, but could have been a bit shorter. Happy, sad, frustrating, cute, funny and more. I would have given it a 4 if the author would have had less complaining from Laura.
An amazing true story of having faith and following God when He tells you to move! This man started Teen Challenge and did so much for youth!
What do I think?? I think this was a disturbing story and I hope things like this do not really exist. I continued reading it, though started skimming lots, just to find out how it all started...and how it would end.
SPOILERS:
This book could be a trigger for those with the experience of rape and/or suicide. :(
I loved this story, didn't want it to end. The little family that the characters developed was endearing and I missed them each time I had to put the book down, looking forward to when I could be with them again.
I read this book ages ago, I think in 2006. I came acroos it today while dusting my parent's bookcase. I give it 5 stars not for the actual writing, but for how the story left me feeling. Immaculee is an inspration, her faith is something to aspire to, and her raw retelling of her experience stayed with me for months.
Beautiful! Everyday had meaning and was filled with hope. My feelings were validated and even when I didn't realize what I was feeling. I've gone through this devotional twice and it has definitely helped me navigate this thing called grief.
Well, the pace did not pick up, however this was a beautifully written story. Lots of descriptive writing, had me skimming a bit, as I wanted to get to the characters and their stories.
Tons of twists I didn't see coming, that always makes for a good read! However, I didn't care for the abrupt ending.
