I would give this 3.5 stars probably. Second half is great, first half is dead boring. I almost didn't keep reading, but I'm glad I did.

I procrastinated reading this book for a few years for obvious reasons... it's hard yet truthful.

This is one of the best books I've ever read.

So good. Such a great antagonist.

An interesting concept with potential, but most of the characters are pretty one dimensional. Add in a verrryy slow build and the book was just... okay. Lila was enjoyable but pushed the campiness boundary - she almost became a parody of herself at times. I REALLY wished for more dynamic characters in Kell and the villains - everyone was just meh.

The only interesting part of this book is the general concept of how the aliens take over earth. But then you get annoying characters and repetitive, boring narrative.
I listened to the audiobook, making it easier to tune out the tedium and poorly written dialogue/narration
