Very emotional, totally felt for these two. Still really hate when people don't communicate and instead breakup to protect the other, but considering they are so young and it is Scarlet's first relationship it kinda made sense.
Good happy ending with maybe a little openness as we can hope the couple gets back on the ice in the future with no regrets.
Kaliya with her quick trigger temper and impulsiveness feels super young– more early-2os than 117. Having a temper is fine, it is a character trait for sure, but also makes her choices eye-roll worthy. Her hidden plans (for no reason) and then getting mad for her colleagues not realizing her plan??? She is definitely not my favorite character, but the story is still interesting so I'll keep reading.
When I saw this one available on Netgalley, I decided to grab it because the webcomic seems to be super popular. I ended up really enjoying it and wish I had more so I could continue my binge reading. I do wish it had a little more depth. Yes, there is a lot going on and Maxi has had an abusive life and we do get descriptions on the castle, money systems, different people, etc., but the writing still felt shallow or done in a way that creates distance between the reader and story. I wasn't completely entrenched and I kept wishing for more. Then we'd get an info dump on the money system or magic system which sometimes felt unnecessary. Like, why is the money so complicated and why should I care about this when I know it will only (probably) be important for one arc?
That all being said, I am really enjoying where the story is leading us and I cannot wait for Maxi to feel comfortable with Riftan and everyone else. Seeing her bloom is fantastic. Even the setbacks in the relationship developments make sense. Now that she cares about Riftan and these people of course she will have new worries and concerns which, with her background, can and do create obstacles.
So yeah, I really enjoyed this, I'm looking forward to reading more and might get so impatient I hunt down the manhwa to see how expensive reading that will be.
I really wanted to love this since I love isekai/portal stories. The pacing was off though. Like they fell in love or almost love in less than a week. That portion of time took the majority of the book too and then time skip and everything just kinda happens one after the other. There was just so much to accomplish in not enough pages. This easily could have been a duet.
That all being said, I really enjoyed the beginning and the end – middle dragged a wee bit– and laughed a few times. I love the concept. It really felt like The Greatest Estate Developer which is one of my favorite web comics on Webtoons which made seeing the story in this one entertaining.
Romance is super sweet.
I feel like she way over-hyped her case. Like it was intense, there was an explosion, but didn't seem like something all the cops would discuss in hushed tones and awe. Especially not when they are all comparing stories. So meh alright overall. I'll give the first book a read.
Merged review:

This is such a good book. I totally binge read it. We've got the main characters being 38 (FMC) & 42 (MMCs) and both have kids - 1 teen and 1 little girl - and they have their own problems and baggage. I definitely teared up a few times. I loved Susie though and her positivity. Loved Nate and Jillian. The guys... weirdly it felt like sometimes one of them would be forgotten for a few chapters. Henry I swear disappeared for a good stretch of the book, the Rey, then Luke... only Coach (who's name I've of course forgotten) seemed to be around the most. It felt disjointed at times, but I also didn't mind enough to drop the rating.
This book is a lot of healing, a lot of fluff and good feelings mixed with a few painful moments as the things Jillian says so nonchalantly hit so friggin' hard. That poor little girl.
But yeah this was fantastic. Long, but so worth it. I really need to dive into this author's books again.
So just an FYI, I grabbed an ARC of this book through BookSirens, but if you've seen my reviews on literally all the other books set in this world, you'll know these are 100% my own opinions.
I've so been looking forward to Flix's book and I'm not disappointed. This book started with an absolute bang with the funeral and then Flix immediately being kidnapped by the love interest. It was pretty messed up, but in this world it kinda just felt more like Ani was a brat in need of attention and went about it horribly. Flix definitely has his hands full, for real.
The miscommunication trope is a huge part of this story, but it didn't annoy me as much as it normally does because the circumstances kinda of messed things up for them too.
I really liked the characters and how they strike back and manipulate each other – and they both know they do it. Messed up, but out of all the dynamics so far, this one is really not the worst. It ended up seeming really sweet. Eventually they recognize the issues they each have and try to work their relationship in and around them so they can become partners that trust each other in the future. Weirdly, almost feels like the most healthy dynamic???? A nice break to be had after Kaz & Nate's book which was just... yeah.
But a quick reminder to not forget about that kidnapping, torture, manipulation, possessiveness, and excessive jealousy.
Anyhow, I loved this, adored it, and am thoroughly looking forward to the next. Berga & Madden maybe????
This was so over the top, but I had such a fun time reading it. So possessive and protective, but 100% devoted. No real plot, just sweet, fun vibes and a few bloody moments. I am most definitely going to read the next ones although I wish we were getting Amos or Dean's stories next. It is kinda weird knowing exactly who the three other Kings will mate– no mystery there– still it kinda allows us to prepare and find their names in the books before theirs, I guess.
Highly recommend if you want light fantasy with lots of romance, silly moments, and possessive dudes with little to no moral line when it comes to their mates. Kinda gave Suzanne Wright vibes.
I decided to pick this one up because I have heard good things and saw that the anime was(has) come out.
I really wasn't sure what to think. This is both cute and slightly unsettling in a toxic sort of way, but I was willing to continue on because the art style looks adorable and there is the potential for character growth which would make the characters unless concerning in a toxic-way.
I've since read 10 volumes of this and absolutely enjoy where the story has and will go. I am very glad to have picked this up.
I received an arc of this book from netgalley, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Absolutely adorable! I was concerned at first and so worried with how they act and what the meet up would be like, so I'm glad it is resolved quickly. Wow though, I laughed so much. The misunderstandings with all the people who play together are just so possible and yet so ridiculous.
I'm really looking forward to reading more!

Honestly, this was just alright. The stories are rather interesting and I like the premise of re-housing ghosts and monsters. I wish we knew more about where they are moving them too and how they know it won't make problems in the future.
The main characters are bland at best, but honestly really started to annoy me. The entitlement and weird thought processes just didn't work for me. Unfortunately, I don't think I care enough to continue and see if he improves.
ok ok so I'm not a fan of him saying he doesn't want to live if she isn't his fan and the other suicidal thought mentions and I REALLY hope that gets addressed and shown to be not healthy :/ I'm not holding my breath though because it is played off as comments the reader is supposed to laugh at. I see he isn't trying to manipulate her, just tell his feelings buuuutttt the boy needs help.
Besides that scene, I loved this book. It is funny, we see hints of romantic feelings blooming, and I adore his switches from confident persona to his gloomy anxious self that he feels comfortable showing her.
I'm so excited for the next volume! But yeah marking this from 5 -> 4 stars because of his “without you I feel like dying” comments.
The narrator did such a fabulous job on this book, but wow the content made it so hard to listen to. Just... you know, obviously, what is happening, but our characters don't. You just want to scream at them to LOOK, to think about the actions a bit deeper, to be more understanding, and yet we still have to watch Enchanted fall, fall, fall. It was so painful. I teared up so many times.
I am emotionally compromised now, but at least I have a better understanding on who to recommend this to.
