During a retreat focusing on a Noir theme, a body is found and so begins another mystery for Watson the detective cat and his human Faith.
This is another favorite in this series. I absolutely love how much more Watson is featured in this one. I just can't say enough how much I love this cozy mystery series.
Sarah Blair receives a call from her sister Emily...it seems Emily is involved in a possible murder...of Sarah's ex-husband Bill. During the investigation it seems that Sarah must give up custody of her feline love (RahRah) to Jane who was Bill's current fling. What else can possibly go wrong? How about another murder and attempted cat-napping? How will the Blair sisters ever figure out who is behind the murders and bring RahRah home?
This is the first in the Sarah Blair mystery series. I had fun reading One Taste Too Many. Twin sisters, a cute and rambunctious kitty named RahRah, baking, lies and twists and of course murder. What else could a cozy lover ask for?
My first book by this author and while I did enjoy the writing, the mystery and flow, this story just wasn't for me. It took too long for me to really get invested and while sometimes books that start out slow work well, that was not the case with this one. It was the same at the end when they were revealing who the murderer was .. it was too drawn out in my opinion.
Have you ever wanted to read about infectious diseases without 1)feeling like you're studying for a college exam; 2)having to read 2 or 3 other books just to understand the one you're currently reading; 3)having to re-read multiple times because you're just lost?
Well look no further because this is the book for you. It's brief, concise, quirky and informative. Don't worry it is also chock full of grossness and the always fun
In Book 2 we return to the small town of Yasamee, GA and the antics of Miss Vivee, Mac and Logan. Local playboy Oliver Gibbons turns up dead and of course, according to Miss Vivee, only she can solve his murder.
I cannot get enough of Miss Vivee and her feisty attitude. She may be older but she will dang sure put you in your place and make you remember your manners. I was laughing so much while reading this one and can't believe I waited so long to jump back in. Dang life and having to be an adult
I haven't read anything by this author, or any books in this series. I'm glad I snagged this one as it can be read standalone and it's packed full of Christmas love.
What could be better than a Christmas wedding with a tad bit of chaos along the way and the birth of a new baby? This time of year? Nothing. Definitely recommend for a fun, cute and light read.
Lou is constantly finding ways to stretch time. Time for meetings. Time for lunches. Time for the one “last” fling. Time for everything and everyone but his wife and kids.
When Lou meets Gabe (a homeless man who sits outside his building) he decides to help Gabe and lines up a job for him in the mailroom of his building. Gabe is odd and cryptic. Soon Lou's life is interrupted and changed.
Time...is it a curse or a gift? What happens when we squander the time we have with our families and loved ones? There are no do-overs...no take-backs and no retries. As Lou is too soon to discover...time simply runs out.
Now this is a book for Christmas. It reminds me of those movies of old, where life lessons are learned after some dire circumstances have taken place. I really enjoyed this one as it brings the meaning of Christmas home.
One night, after catching her cheating boyfriend and indulging in a few too many drinks, Leah bids on a Christmas tree farm...and wins. When she wakes the next morning it's all chaos.
Considering her boyfriend (now ex) was her boss and she exited on a rather fantastic scene..she decides the farm might be a way to start over ... until she gets there and it's nothing like she imagined.
Very cute and fun read. It took a bit for me to get into it and there is a certain tongue ring that gets way too much attention IMHO
3.5 rounded to 4
Dr. Eliana Bennett and Dr. Julian Rivera are interns at the Imperial Care Hospital. During this internship the two constantly argue, play pranks, and irritate each other. Eventually they realize how much they have come to mean to each other, finally let go and let their feelings guide the way.
The banter between Julian and Eliana at many points had me laughing and other points had my heart warming. The path to love definitely took them a long time to figure out as they both had things to work through but you can feel the love they have for each other. The author does a good job showcasing their journey to togetherness.
I also enjoyed the friendship between the interns. They work hard, most times overworked and exhausted, but are always there for each other. It's a family atmosphere and I really loved that part of it.
This is the first in a hospital drama series and with the ending being what it was, I would like to see what happens next. While some parts of Julian and Eliana's journey could be very repetitive and tedious I did enjoy this. It's also a very quick read and I finished in a day.
I appreciate the author providing me a copy of this E-ARC in exchange for an honest review. Any opinions expressed herein are mine and mine alone.
Years after Icelyn has left Mountaintop to live among her Anaghwin, another threat appears and Adoradne sets out to the Drowned City to plead for Mountaintop and the survival of their kind. So begins a trip on the sole premise of a myth...
In another part of the Down Below a threat to all things living has arisen ... a threat by a cult with a dangerous vision for what they believe the world should be. When this new terror is unleashed on what's left of the world...will anyone survive?
I really enjoyed Book 2 as it delves into the past and we really begin to see why the Croathus and Anaghwin became who they are and also what part Sean Brathius played in creating the chaos and later salvation of the world.
The world building is fantastic and I love all the characters, main and minor. It's such an interesting concept on a what if scenario...what happens when the world is taken over by what scientists have created. Sometimes creation should best be left to natural processes.

When I saw this cover I absolutely had to have it and just KNEW it was going to be a perfect holiday read. Not exactly...
I absolutely love the setting for this one as I'm a sucker for small town anything lol. However, Olivia rubbed me the wrong way from the very beginning. She runs a non-profit (Christmas From the Heart) that helps the local community. LOVE that!
When Hightower Enterprises backs out on donating this year she becomes this pushy and obnoxious person. I mean I understand the need for contributions and feeling a blow like that right before Christmas would have been hard BUT the way she handled it was off-putting.
The writing is good and when you're reading about the local community coming together to help one another all the holiday feels are there. I also loved the Scrooge-like references and how at the end a life lesson was learned and change instituted...again all the holiday feels present.
I really wish I enjoyed this one more but I just couldn't connect with the main character and that lost a bit overall for me.
Shirley, Goodness and Mercy are young angels who are known for getting into mischief. They seem to have trouble staying away from grand gestures, escalators and TV screens. When they are sent to Earth as prayer ambassadors will they be able to stay out of trouble long enough to answer prayers and instill some much needed peace and hope?
Ever since I was young I've had a fascination with Angels (and not because I'm named after them
When I read the synopsis I was drawn in. I love mysteries and this is the perfect time of year for them. I was not aware, nor is this advertised, that this is part of a series. This can be read standalone, however there are parts that don't make complete sense like the relationship between the main character and her “friend”.
Regardless, while this was an interesting story and I enjoyed the setting, it is a slow read. Nothing extremely exciting or thrilling happens that makes you want to keep turning the page.

Since he was very young all Ethan wanted was to paint...to express his emotions, not only for others to enjoy, but also as a way to release his thoughts and feelings. One day fate steps in and Ethan's dreams come true as Eugene (a local and accomplished artist) takes him under his wings and nourishes his talent.
Years later, Ethan observes a young woman staring intently at a painting...one he happens to be the artist of. As they discuss the painting a single spark ignites, which turns into more...so much more as they both realize it's love at first sight.
What a beautiful story that embraces love at it's most powerful...love at first sight. Their journey isn't easy, but at the same time it isn't hard. They have each other...always and through everything. I love the way the author describes art throughout their story and especially love the chemistry he brings into their relationship. He certainly knows how to tug at the heart strings.

Everly is an executive determined to prove her worth, not only in her family, but also in the business world. When her assistant sneakily books her vacation on an Amazon cruise, will the lack of outside contact force Everly to look inward and reevaluate her place in the world?
Asher is happy where he is and nothing would ever change that, or so he thought. When Everly lands on his Amazon cruise and brings a whirlwind of chaos with her...will it also bring change to what he thought was a joyful life?
Debbie Macomber is fast becoming my go-to holiday author. I love her writing. The stories are heartwarming, cute and hit the Christmas spot. Will definitely be reading her throughout the year to keep the holiday spirit fresh and alive.
This story really sucks you in. At a little over 500pgs it took me 2 days to devour. I absolutely love the premise of this book, and the hilarity of the fact that a boy band causes the apocalypse. At first, the mixed up timelines worried me BUT it was actually very engaging and easy to follow. I haven't read anything by this author before but this is a clear indication for me of why I need to check out his other books. Go out and snag this gem. It's a perfect addition for any Spooktober TBR!
I appreciate Blackthorn Book Tours for gifting me this E-Book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed herein are mine and mine alone. I also appreciate the opportunity to participate in The Drop Book Tour. This was a lot of fun to read and be involved in.
I've had this book on my shelves for at least a year now. It was a find at a local library sale. I love buying books at these sales as I usually get ones that are out of my wheelhouse. If not, for the sale I doubt I ever would have purchased this book.
I typically don't enjoy any type of domestic books but the premise caught my attention...would you allow a time-expired open marriage scenario with rules and guidelines?
I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Not only was this a quick read...it was a fun one. Like watching a train wreck without the ability to turn away kind of fun (if that makes sense
I'm not sure this author is for me ... I was hoping for cute and heartwarming Christmas feels but I can't make it past the 1st story. I RARELY DNF but I just can't with this one.
The writing is choppy and the entire “romance” is rushed and annoying. The “adults” talk and act like they are pre-teens which shows in the dialogue.
There were so many unnecessary scenes thrown in that didn't make sense (like the ex trying to sabotage things) and then after being introduced as part of the story...absolutely no conclusion...
I'm sure there are some out there who would love this author but they just aren't for me.
This is why I love sci-fi. It has all the elements to appease my nerdy side...droids, prison planet overrun with aliens hell bent on taking over, and of course the world-within-a-world social gathering for humans to get lost in.
This started fast & heavy and continued throughout. I only wish it was a tad longer...it's like potato chips and the inability to eat just one...I turned the page and wanted another one, and another one
This is reminiscent of a B-Rated horror flick that we all love to hate. You know the one...small town living, young people camping and partying...getting crazy...then BAM water zombies come out of the lake they are camping next to and chaos begins.
Then, of course, a couple of them become dinner, a few get away to alert the town (who initially don't believe them), and then BAM the town is overrun and converted to water zombies (after the townsfolk are bitten).
Did I mention that these water zombies become stronger in the rain and that there's a storm raging throughout the story .. but of course there is.
So Angela is now jobless, bordering on poverty, and is teetering on the edge of losing her work Visa. She doesn't want to go back to England but as her choices of renewing her Visa disappear it seems that will be the end to her adventures in New York. Jenny and Erin have other plans for their chaotic, clumsy friend .. Vegas!! Because of course, that is the answer to any and all life problems.
I absolutely loved the first I Heart (New York) and while the next 2 were just ok I still enjoyed them. I guess it was inevitable that there would be some adventures surrounding Angela and Jenny as they both worked on finding themselves. Character growth sheesh
It's almost the most wonderful time of the year so of course it's time to start warming up this holiday season with some holiday reads. Cue this heartwarming book about facing life's challenges, while adding in a little romance and topping it all off with a little historical mystery. The perfect recipe for a lovely story.
While I did have a hard time with Tabatha and some aspects of the story related to Lucy's relationships, overall this was a fun, light-hearted read. I really enjoy the way Kate Lloyd writes. She has a way of drawing you in and getting you lost in the story. Before I knew it the story was over, but rather than frowning, I closed the book on a smile and a warm heart.
I am starting to delve into more holiday reads. What a definite treat to be gifted this lovely book by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed herein are mine and mine alone.
This is a very unique fantasy. Oftentimes fantasy books that have fairies, and the like, are in a fantastical world, but this was written in the present world and I loved that. I feel it connected me to the story on a deeper level because I could better understand what the characters are going through. Not to mention the characters are well written and relatable.
There is so much going on throughout that I couldn't help but get tangled into the story (in a good way)...Shae's struggle with her required tithe and the compassion she is beginning to feel towards her “keepers”... Andre's connection to Shae and the changes she feels and can't stop ... and Ben's connection to Shae through his music and the need to create. I loved all of it and would definitely recommend this one. Great debut.
