This isn't normally the type of book I read and I'm glad I took the chance. I've always loved movies set in the Crusade time period and have always been fascinated by secret societies.
This was not only an engaging and well written story but had a lot of historical aspects which were fascinating to read. The last few chapters had me on edge as it was action-packed and thrilling! I cannot wait to receive Book 2 and continue this adventure.

Easiest 5 stars I've ever given. This brought back ALL the Simple Wild and Wild at Heart feels and then some. SIGH ❤️❤️❤️
I can't believe their story is done BUT I do look forward to reading about Dr. Marie next.
Again..another fun read! This time we join Faith and Watson during a family reunion of sorts. The Drelincourts each have a set of autographed first editions of Agatha Christie's books that Wolfe (the owner of Castleton Manor) wants to buy. While at the manor they are snowed in and joined by two men who just happen to break down close by. The books are swiped from under the family members' noses...one at a time. So who could be stealing them...strangers or family?? Guess you'll have to read to find out.
“Maybe that was the problem. Human noses didn't work right. If they did, they could follow the trail that led to solving this mystery instead of crying and yakking.” Watson the Tuxedo Cat
It's Gatsby Week at Castleton Manor and per their literary style, packed full of era-fun activities. During these activities it seems someone wants to harm one of the guests, literary agent Avis Roth, and during the 2nd attempt...they succeed. Now it's up to Watson, Faith and the Candle House Book Club to solve the mystery and catch a murderer.
This is definitely, by far, my absolute favorite cozy mystery series. It's fun, it's literary, it has a cat finding clues and helping solve mysteries, while sharing his thoughts throughout. Not to mention these are quick and enjoyable. I would highly recommend this series to anyone wanting to try this genre out.
Babushka is returning home to the Ukraine, after being gone since she was a child. She isn't sure what to expect and when she sees how much it has changed she comes to realize she is homesick. Home, for her, is where her hear lies, which is with her family and her grandbabies. She enjoys the rest of her time visiting the Ukraine but is happy when she returns home.
What a beautiful story that is a sweet reminder to all of us that “Home is where the heart is”. I know I'm always happiest when surrounded by family. What a great message to share with our littles. Another beautiful book I will be sharing with my grandbabies and one I definitely recommend.

I don't have anyone in my life who has gone through this but I believe this book would be a perfect gift for those who are. It is short but very well said and certainly makes one think.

What's better than a Christmas cozy read? One filled with murder and mystery. Usually murder during the Christmas season wouldn't be fun
Hmmmm I'm not entirely sure what I read...I think this is what it would feel like on an acid trip. Confusing. Weird. Hallucinations. Hearing voices and being paranoid.
Ok so this was an unexpected gem. I snagged this because it fills a super specific prompt for a bingo board. I was pleasantly surprised as this was fun, witty and cute.
We are back in Holiday Haven where this time the chaotic Christmas disaster has to do with the Master List. Star Clearwater is visiting her mom when chaos breaks loose and alarms are sounding all over Santa's workshop.
Someone has put a hex on production and now the entire toy department has shut down. To make matters worse the mail department has also been affected and the children's letters are backing up. With Christmas on the horizon can the mystery of the hexed list be solved in time?
Another magic and fun-filled Christmas mystery. I absolutely love that these books can be read standalone. Each book so far has it's own story BUT share the same setting...Holiday Haven. This series is definitely going to be on the favorites list.
What a perfectly fun and delightful read! This is a perfect book for older elementary and middle grade readers. Bernice is a fun-loving, mischievous, and creative character. The mystery of the stolen jewels was also interesting and attention-keeping. This is one I'm looking forward to sharing with my grandbabies. Highly recommend!
Wow. I usually struggle with audiobooks but this narrator is amazing. Add to that an amazing and well written story and it's a win-win.
I absolutely love Henry ... well all the characters really
I read The Nutcracker and The Night Before Christmas in some form every year. I absolutely love the imagination and the fun. I think I may have to add a new one to the pile...
It's fun, it's lyrical and I'm positive my grandbabies are going to love it. Looks like I'm buying them each an extra gift this year
I had a hard time getting into this one. The flow was pretty slow for me and not much was happening throughout. There are glimpses into the characters' mindset but at times it seemed to lack coherency as thoughts jumped from one character straight to the next. Maybe that type of flow was intentional? If so, it didn't work well for me.
It's also a very despondent story with the main thread that of 7 year old Justy and life as seen through her eyes. Very bleak and without hope.
Overall not a bad read, but not a great one either...at least not for me.
A new vaccination has been made that will cure diabetes. For those who have suffered with this affliction, it feels too good to be true. The vaccine will also make it so anyone who receives it will never have to worry about becoming diabetic. A law has been passed that makes it so vaccinations are now mandatory and they are to start administration with the schools first.
So what happens when the government makes vaccinations mandatory? A zombie apocalypse. Let the chaos ensue.
Ok this was quick, action-packed, full of craziness, and (for me) a ton of fun to read. I haven't read many zombie books but have watched a ton of movies. I loved that this went against the grain and had a different way to bring the zombies down. This would be a good one for those Spooktober lists and zombie enthusiasts.
A review copy was provided by the publisher. While a written review after reading was not required, I have provided one. All opinions expressed herein are mine and mine alone.
Fiona Figg works for the British War Office and sometimes assists the men in RM 40 with codebreaking and planning ideas. Unexpectedly, she's given a chance to go undercover and impersonate a male doctor, Dr. Vogel, and travel to Ravenswick. Under this guise her mission is to spy on an investigative journalist, Frederick Fredericks, and ferret out whether he's a German spy.
While Fiona is getting to know the inhabitants of Ravenswick, the Countess is murdered. Everyone is being interviewed and investigated and Fiona is worried she will be found out. Can she somehow solve the murder and keep her true identity hidden? Will this somehow interfere with her very first mission?
What a great way to start this historical cozy mystery series. Fiona is such a well-rounded character...smart and tenacious...yet emotional and empathetic. This has everything I love..historical aspects, espionage, mystery...murder and a strong female lead.
Watch out now .. Fiona is a secretary turned double agent and she's going after those dastardly spies that dare to threaten her country. I already have the 2nd book and can't wait to see where her next adventure lies.
Nikki is searching for her one true love, going on many a first date to find him. Somehow she never makes it to a second encounter as she always finds an excuse as to why the date didn't meet her criteria.
Color Nikki surprised when she meets Luke and feels an instant connection. However, minutes into their first date, he receives a phone call. He apologizes and dashes away stating fate will decide if they see each other again.
Nikki however doesn't believe in fate but does fate believe in Nikki?
Another heartfelt and utterly sweet love story in the Senses of Love series. Even though these are short they are chock full of love and meaning. This story could be about anyone and I know parts of this resonated with my own journey to finding love. Sometimes we need to stop searching and let fate give a little push in the right direction.

I have been wanting to read a historical fiction that isn't about WW2 and this one fit the bill perfectly. I could never imagine travelling by boat, from one country to the next the way these settlers did. Cramped conditions. Unhealthy atmosphere with little to no medical treatments available must have made for an extremely uncomfortable voyage.
The writing is engaging and I enjoyed the story from beginning to end. This one's a hidden gem. Definitely recommend.

Murder rocks Holiday Haven! With Christmas just around the corner, will the most Chrismassey place on earth be clouded in gloom? Not if Rudie can help it.
Rudie is special. She can see and talk to ghosts. As one of the owners of the only funeral home in Holiday Haven, it's a useful gift as well. When Phillipa is murdered she appears to Rudie and tasks her with finding her killer ... or be haunted for the rest of her life.
I know I said this about the last one BUT what a magical and fun Christmas cozy! This series is just too much fun and I'm sad it's over.
Carol and Mercy are owners of the Holiday Haven Inn. They have a weekend celebration planned which includes carolers, a festive food menu, a theatre production, and use of a wishing box.
Rival Janice also owns an inn and frequently “borrows” Carol & Mercy's ideas. So when the wishing box goes missing and creative disasters appear at every turn to ruin the weekend festivities, who else could it be BUT Janice? Right?
Another magical Christmas cozy. I absolutely LOVE Holiday Haven and all the Christmassy chaos these books bring. The mysteries are delightful and the magical mishaps are engaging and fun. Definitely recommend for a quick and enjoyable read.
Holly has decided to stay on in Candy Cane Hollow...maybe indefinitely. The New Year's Eve Ball is a big affair and she has agreed to be Nick's date. During the festivities darkness descends as the disco ball falls and crashes onto one of the town residents. Something about the way it happened bothers Holly and she sets off, once again, to solve the crime and save the town she's come to love.
OK being this cute should be illegal
Another cute and heartwarming romance that is well written and quick to read. I love a good second chance romance and this is such a sweet story to showcase that. I enjoy the way this author writes as it feels like it could be any one of us which has me connecting to the story and the characters. I seriously adore this series.

This year has been fraught with challenges and trying to have a normal Christmas was just one of many. I'm sure many children wondered whether Santa would be able to come this year. So what better way to spend some time yesterday than to read this cute gem of a book. This is definitely one I would recommend, not only as a reminder of the year, but as one to have fun reading with the family.
