I received this book from the author for the purpose of this review. All comments and opinions are entirely my own.
A sweet book that focuses on the trust it takes to love someone.
Zac Von Stick is about a dog that is sent to a new home for whatever reason not stated in the book. He is terribly scared and unsure of what is to happen, so he clings onto his stick. In the end he realizes that his attitude and hope of finding a family makes his house a home.
The important topics that stand out to me in this feel-good story, would be the family attributes, the joy of adopting a new dog, and moving to a new home. Aimed very much towards a younger audience (under 4 years), this is a story that parents would want to read aloud to their kids before bed or when they are wanting to wind down.
I did like the simple illustrations, and I'm sure that young children will love pointing out the stick that Zac carries with him to every page. Though, I would not count this book as educational (as far as school learning). The main thing that Zac Von Stick has going for it is the sweetness of a dog finally finding a forever home.
I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
