A beautiful collection of works of art (paintings, jewelry, tapestries, etc) by women artists from a vast number of countries, representing the diversity, the artistic wealth and the beauty found in each corner of the world. Through colours, diverse materials, and heartfelt remarks, each artist raises her voice against discrimination and abuse, aiming in a future free of prejudices, a future where true equality will have been achieved.
However...
A highly offensive work is included. It obviously carries hostile ethnic, political and religious connotations. Well, I won't teach a History lesson here but vile is vile and certain things constitute sacrilege. When religious figures of certain cultures are disrespected all Hell breaks loose. When so-called ‘'artists'' offend the Christian religion regardless of a particular denomination, it is called ‘'artistic license''. Well, no. I won't accept an ‘'license'' that offends my personal values. I will open my mouth and scream against the modern double-standards. Respect goes both ways and the editor of the collection should have been aware of this principle.
Many thanks to Pomegranate Communications and Edelweiss for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
