DNF pg 56. I was enjoying it until the main character started talking Star Wars/Marvel/musical pop culture references. Just not into it
This was so cute and the perfect October read! It was funny, steamy but felt cosy at the same time. Definitely perfect for this time of year if you don't want a high drama/angsty book. Will definitely be continuing.
After wanting to pick this series up for ages, I finally decided the time was right!
Juliette Cross is a new-to-me author with this book despite many of her titles gracing my TBR. I found her writing very accessible and easy to read. It had a perfect flow and voice so I felt so comfortable in the story and the pages just kept flying by. The plot was very intriguing and the execution held my attention effortlessly. The world-building felt on the smaller scale for a fantasy but since this is a paranormal romance it didn't really impact the story negatively at all. There was just enough information to satisfy the storyline and not overwhelm the reader.
I'd be lying if I said that Evie's character wasn't an embodiment of myself in a lot of ways. Star Wars geek? -raises hand- Comic book nerd? -raises hand and waves it around- She was just so delightful and I found so much of myself in her that she was enormously relatable. Mateo was the perfect mix of cinnamon roll and alpha. He had such a warm-hearted demeanor and I couldn't help but be drawn to him. And let's talk about "Alpha" because I honestly think he kept this story alive. I loved his cocky alpha attitude. His little quips and thoughts were so amusing. All of the secondary characters were great as well. I loved all of Evie's sisters and their different personalities. Each character's personality shone through distinctly. I really look forward to getting to know them better throughout this series. I really loved the family and found family aspects in this book.
This was a medium-to-slow-burn romance. I truly loved how Evie and Mateo formed a connection and built off of that. Mateo's wolfish side may have been drooling over Evie from the start but Mateo and Evie became friends and then more feelings developed. I loved how Mateo encouraged Evie and made her feel special. The Star Wars date that he planned melted my heart and made me squee just a bit. (Lucky girl!) The sweet moment had me in my feels and the spicy moments had me reaching for a glass of water. Their chemistry was just so natural.
Overall, this wasn't a new G.O.A.T. favorite but I had a really good time reading it. It was engaging, had memorable characters, and a pleasant and relatable writing style. I was waffling between rating this between 3.5 and 4 stars and decided on 4 stars because I am still thinking about all the characters. The author made me feel so invested in the lives of the entire cast of characters so I know I will be picking up the next book at some point. I love it when an author leaves such a positive lasting impression when I finish their book. If you love paranormal romance that reads like a Rom-Com with magic then this book is right for you. This book has that easygoing feel and is such a fun, feel-good story.
2⭐️ unfortunately
I read this so excruciatingly slow, it was almost painful. It didn't really keep my attention and I almost dnfed it about 20 times.
The story had potential but it was underwhelming. I think my main problem with this was the focus completely being on the romance which was also very mediocre. Nothing exciting happened and the whole plot about his trapped wolf was written in the literal last 2 chapters.
This is so well written and so good, but it doesn't really get moving till 200 pages in. Loved the characters and the story had me guessing right up til the end. Great heat between the lead couple and I can't wait to see where Jules and Ruben's story ends up (in several books). This was my first ever full length romance novel and it was a good one.
Predictable, anticlimactic, kinda funny, and yes I'm going to read the rest of the series becuase I'm hooked. Idk
Honestly? I'm just glad to say I finished and can move on to something else.
Loved this book! It hit all of the right spots for me. Great build up, great romance, great heat. Loved the wolf to man conversations. It was a little bit slow in some parts but overall a great read!

Wolf Gone Wild is a paranormal romance starring the Savoie family, who are a witchy group of sisters who control New Orleans and presumably, their eventual love interests. The Savoie sisters own a bar/tavern and a witchy shop in New Orleans, and from there ply their magic to whoever needs help. The majority of the world is in the dark when it comes to supernaturals, but from what I could gather, there were four main types. Vampires, Witches, Werewolves and Grims — who are grim reaper types.
In Wolf Gone Wild, Mateo Cruz, a werewolf with a hex problem, shows up at the Savoie's door looking for help. He can't shift, and it's causing some issues with his wolfier side. There he meets Evie, and well, love happens.
This series has the potential to be really cute, but unfortunately, Wolf Gone Wild fell a little flat for me. The writing is what brought this down in rating. It's very basic, which is fine, but the characters — especially the main character, Evie, just felt... elementary? She's a geek who loves comics and Star Wars, and normally that would be fine and dandy, but there was no real heart there. It felt very filled-in, and that there was no real love for either comics or the Star Wars series. Maybe I'm reading too into a paranormal romance book. Who knows.
Anyway, Mateo and Evie were rather cute together, and I did enjoy the alpha-ness of the werewolf bits. When it comes to sex scenes, Wolf Gone Wild is on the steamier side of things. There are a few explicit scenes, and several scenes of characters thinking rather raunchy thoughts.
In the end, I'm not going to be rushing to the other books in this series. It's a shame, I had high hopes for this one!
Two and a half stars rounded up for GR.
Guys, I wish I had a better review for y'all! This book took me a week to get through. Partly my fault because life, but also part the book's fault. I had some hope for this book: set in New Orleans and witchy, but it just didn't do it for me. The writing style, for me, was far too casual (if that makes sense). The inner voice of the wolf reminded me of Sméagol from LoTR talking to himself and it was just kind of disturbing at times. The euphemisms for sexual acts and body parts was so incredibly cringy. The flirting and forwardness on the part of the male MC were uncomfy to read. Over all I obviously didn't like the book and probably won't read the others in the series, which I think follow the stories of Evie's sisters. 18+ for language and sexual content.

I really did enjoy this book a lot especially because you could feel the chemistry between the two love interests. I loved the writing and the world was amazing. I love how all different creatures were incorporated into the world. I personally just didn't really connect with Evie weirdly and something about her just didn't sit right with me. She's not a bad character by any means, I just personally didn't really like her. While this is a romance, I also felt like this had heavy cozy mystery vibes which I normally like but they tend to be very formulaic which didn't help this book.
Ok so I LOVE this world that Juliette Cross is building. I am also a sucker for books based in New Orleans. Mateo and Evie were also super cute and geeky. It was a lovely read.
This is a fun, sweet, light romance. I had a lot of fun while reading this one and usually had a smile on my face. If you are looking for some sweetness to read and something lighter – a palate cleanser, this is the one for you.
