Ree lives with her mother and two brothers. Her father put the house up for bail, it looks like it will be sold from under them if she doesn't start to ask questions and find out exactly what's going on.

Fast read, engaging story. Great example of writing with regional dialect; it seems absolutely authentic. From a writer's point of view I was struck at the lesson this book provides for plot–the story is very simple, but the author keeps raising the stakes for the characters. No wonder it made a good movie.
What a pointless blob of words. I wanted Ree to get the hell out of this life and be selfish -live for herself- and the fact that by the end of the book she didn't... I just
Bleh.
