2.5 ish
a quick & decent read. i found it entertaining enough but didn't was never fully invested in the plot & found the suspense lacking
this book was everything I wanted in a thriller it intrigued me from page one it took a few pages for me to adjust to the scenery change but once I did I ATE IT UP and the twists got me and the ending was perfect with this one and I absolutely loved everything about it DO NOT READ THE GOODREAD SYNOPSIS
This book took my by surprise!! My mind is officially blown. This book was just one twist after the other. Florence is one of the most unlikable characters I've ever encountered in my life. She truly believed she was destined for greatness; that life owed something. She wanted to be a writer and, while she had potential, she was not there yet. She was told that plenty of times but she didn't want to hear it. Instead on putting the work to develop her craft she just wanted her big chance dropped on her lap. And she thought she got it when she was offered a job as the assistant of award-winning novelist Maud Dixon. But, then again, if it seems too good to be true, maybe it is.
I cannot believe this was a debut novel. Alexandra Andrews just got into my automatic buy author list.
3.5?
i have no clue how to rate this one. the first 60% of the book were boring but i pushed thru bc of the reviews and the promise of amazing plot twists. well I did get the plot twists but i predicted most of them, so it didnt really pay off for the boring first half. i did enjoy the book but I also feel nothing after finishing, I think i just hyped the book too much for myself for months and i was just underwhelmed???? but also its a debut so i dont wanna be harsh, it was still solid
Wow! I am having trouble putting my feelings into words about this book. I guessed part of a couple of the twists pretty early on, but there were still more twists coming that I didn't expect. The charcters were less likable than I expected and that added to the thriller feeling of the book. The settings of upstate New York and Morroco were both very well done. This is a good creepy mystery where the people are the scariest part.
I didn't like this book at all. The plot sounds exciting but everything moves extremely slowly and the characters are constantly making stupid decisions. The sheer number of things every person in the vicinity had to overlook for the ending to work was ridiculous.
Best book I've ever read in my entire life. I know I sound dramatic but it's true! PLEASE READ IT
