I'm rating this a 5 with a caveat -- I wasn't a fan of the YA-ness of all the characters being teens at school. The thing is, the stuff they were learning was too cool.

The way that the exercises and concepts are described is so perfect -- just enough detail to feel real and part of a huge coherent system.

Also all this talk of cured meats and pickles and heavy breads kept making me hungry.

I don´t read Y.A very often but I like to try and read a bit of everything, so I decided to try this book out. the plot was very intriguing, but I did not love the execution. besides, I absolutely hated the writing of this book.

I recommend this to people who enjoy Y.A though, I think the plot was interesting enough to give it a try and I do recognize that maybe I am not the target audience for this.

Very dark and intense. they claim its a adult and darker version of harry potter which I can semi agree but some of the things that happen in this book are whoa...kind of depressing, kind of that is beyond disturbing. It was a really good book but some of the content is dark. Have to do at least 4 stars for this one. Some parts were really boring and I almost DNF'd but glad I pushed through it.
