I honestly didn't like the romance part but I was hooked on the plot of the series–the intergalactic war that was happening out there, the Lurker tech underground (the egg!), what are the Nagas and why can they activate the weapons when humans can't, where tf are the female Nagas, AND WTF HAPPENED TO SHELBY?!

The excitement of the mystery and the looming threats made up for the lack of romantic feeling in this book, there was little to no chemistry from some of the scenes while the rest gives the bare minimum. I probably would have liked their coupling more if it happened slower, with more time and opportunities for them to really connect because I really find it difficult to understand how Gemma transitioned from running away to loving Vruksha. Like bitch wtf happened to your resolution and your goal to go back to the facility for information (before Daisy's incident). A strong-willed woman like her wouldn't fold easily like that, it was more fitting to see her calmly plan her way out while subtly manipulating him.
