Violet was having a bad day: someone robbed her money, stole her guitar, and then she is invited to meet the mob. Can she sing her way out of this?
Violet holds many jobs and many of them relate to singing. One of them is at a Russian bar where the visiting mafia dons hold their meetings. All Violet does there is sing though, until one night she is called over to a table to meet with people you do not say “no” to.
The next thing she knows she is kidnapped in the middle of the night. Her kidnapper is the one man who lights who blood on fire. He also just happens to be the second guy in charge of the man who wants her kidnapped. Now all she has to do is not lose her heart while trying to escape the Russian mafia. Simple.
Sophie Lark writes a great premise for Violet: A Dark Mafia Romance (Amazon, B081819P9G, 2019) her third book in the “Colors of Crime” series. I think I would have liked a little bit more conversation about how Violet was a dead-ringer for her mother before Viktor sees Violet.
The story is fun and filled with sarcasm, action, sex, and intrigue. I have to say that even I did not see the ending coming and I have watched a lot of Lifetime movies (laugh). You will be surprised by the choices and by the actions. Everything happens quick and decisively. The story moves along and before you know it you are at the end saying “holy sugar!” Well that's what I said. Whew!
The only other thing that confused me was why the book was ending with the point-of-view of Violet's brother who I did not even know. It was not until I was writing this review that I even realized this book was part of a series. So yes you can read it as a standalone (laugh).
I recommend this book for the adventure, humor, and yes the sex. (laugh - at least I am typical) The ending (minus the last chapter) is totally worth the book - and no do not skip ahead because you will not get it. (tsk tsk tsk) Enjoy my rainbows. ✶✶✶✶
I received an ARC of this book and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.
