This book is told from 2 POVs. We get Nova's POV which is from the present day and then we get Undine's POV from 1808. At first, I was worried about how these 2 storylines were going to play out and intertwine but I needn't be worried. The story flows seamlessly and the two timelines intertwine with each other in a way that makes sense. The past chapters are there to kind of explain to us why what is happening in the present day is happening.
I was fully immersed in the story I ended up finishing it in 3 sittings. The only thing that kind of bothered me is how Nova loves this boy that she has barely had any interactions with. They definitely had a connection, but the love felt unbelievable. The ending was kind of bittersweet and heartbreaking but at the same time made perfect sense even though with my preferences I would have liked it to be more of a HEA but as it is it was good as well.
There are definite trigger warnings for this book so do your research before reading it if you are easily triggered. Overall, I really enjoyed this story and think you should give it a go if it sounds like something you would enjoy.
