Vengeance Road

There are two reasons why I choose this book; The cover is absolutely beautiful and that it is a young adult western, which is a genre I haven't seen before. I took this book to Phoenix with me and I'm glad I did because the book's setting is in Phoenix!

I'm not sure if I thought this was a boring book or if it followed a western style of writing maybe? The book had an immediate revenge story to follow, then it kinda got really slow as our characters traveled. There was a couple of side adventures. Once you found out that the main character's father only told half-truths then there was a mystery element also included in the plot. I'm glad I kept reading till the end because I thought the end was really good, too bad it's such a slow pace to get to it.

I put this also in the historical fiction after reading the authors notes at the end of the book. Apparently, it's based of some western legends, an historical battle with the Apache, and it named dropped some historical people. She took her artistic liberties, but I thought that it was kinda cool getting to learn about some history. ~Ashley
