I received this book as part of a blog tour I took part in in exchange for my honest review.
As you can see it took me pretty much a month to read this book. I just want to say that was in no way because of the book. I started this at the end of November and then I had to put it down because we had a death in the family. It took me a while to be able to get back to reading and that is why it took me so long to read it.
This was the first book I have read by this author and aside from The Little Mermaid this was my first mermaid/siren read as well. Time moved really fast in the first half of the book and it was really hard to keep up with. When the book starts the main character is 5 and by chapter five 10 years had gone by. With that being said the first half of the book was slow going. The first part of the story is basically just back story for the characters and you're getting to know them. This was my least favorite part. The second part of the book is about the relationship and probably by far my favorite part. I really connected with Kate and Gabe so much so that I felt like I was in the relationship. I grew to care for these two characters and I found myself feeling what they were feeling. I felt the frustration and confusion that Kate felt. I felt the heartbreak and the anger that Gabe felt. The last part of the book is where the “action” comes in. I don't want to say that I hated this part because honestly it was good and it added something to story. I just hated reading about my two favorite characters going through what they were going through. My least favorite character was Peter but even though I really disliked him I couldn't help but feel sorry for him just like Kate did. I am kind of annoyed with the way Peters story comes to an end I feel kind of feel like he got off to easy. I can't wait to carry on with this series.
