This book kept me going until I finished it, literally right up to the last page. The suspense and romantic-issues dragged me through the story, and I'll admit I was surprised to find out it's book 1 in a series....
I'm not sure if I'm eagerly waiting for book 2, or not.
While I liked the ideas and plot of the first book, along with the humor and pretty much everything else, the ending scene felt awful for me. I will no doubt read book 2, to find out if it gets better, but overall I can't say this is a favorite- though it was good. 2.5 stars?
pretty sure that was cheating, I'm going to die if I don't read the sequel :S
This felt very fresh to me! It's not a dystopia! There aren't any vampires! There are fully-realized female characters with goals and desires aside from dating vampires! LOVED the lady characters–Kami, Holly, and Angela were all unique and believable and awesome. Really unique look at lady friendship and the jealousies that can come up around pretty girls and how that can be overcome. Hooray!
The actual plot is a Gothic supernatural romance that's basically so old school it feels fresh and unique again. Very suspenseful & I'll definitely read the next one eeee.
I laughed so hard my stomach hurt & my children demanded to know just what was so funny. And this despite quite a lot of not-funny in the book...
Upon rereading, I have to say, I had forgotten just how laugh-out-loud funny this is, between the scary parts and the sad parts. When I grow up, can I be Sarah Rees Brennan?
