I'm having a hard time deciding what to rate this book, honestly. I was bored while reading it but, there was so much going on that I don't know why I was bored... and it was interesting but, I found myself not caring.

The plot is there. The book starts with a good hook and brings you right into the story. Unfortunately, the main bad guy in the beginning goes away for another book, I'm guessing, and more villains are brought in. There are so so so many questions. If you are interested in the book, you'd probably be hooked and wanting to know more. I'm pretty indifferent so, while I'm curious, not enough to make me want to read more. I just find them confusing at his point.

The characters... are also there. Definitely different types of characters but, I didn't feel a pull to any of them. Maybe Lilly but, she seemed very cookie cutter. I didn't think characters were given chances to grow or show they were anything else but, props really. Emma is cool and strong which is something I usually like. When you really look at her though, she seemed a bit off. She believes this story about losing her memories in a car crash and that her parents are dead. Did she not think to look herself up? What was her last name? Because, now she has Hayes as her last name which is her ‘surrogate' father's last name which makes me wonder... did she pick it when she wsa in the army or was in given to her? If given, how did she not make the connection?

The romance is not there. It is pretty inta-love because it happened in the past– which she has no memory of. It is frustrating because she fears she is incapable of love only to love this one and ONLY guy. Like, romance is such a small insignificant part I wouldn't even say there is romance.. oh except for the random sex.

Emma is confused about her whole ordeal which leaves the reader confused. Literally straight true answers are barely given. I don't know what is real and what isn't. We don't even know the real good and bad guys! Which is frustrating when the main character has to trust people.... I just did not think it worked.

It is an interesting premise. It had exciting moments and the action was intense. I just couldn't bring myself to get into it.
Definitely marking this as a ‘try again later' book and hope the next time around I'll enjoy it more.
