A dear little story of two dear friends, Chrys and Cordy, who are twelve-going-on-thirteen in early 1900s Idaho. I love good friendship stories, and this one was really dear as they have adventures in Sunday School, school, riding horses, and so on. The two pocket dolls, Lester and Lynette, are part of each adventure and a part of the novel the girls write together as well. Doesn't anyone else wish kids' books were this lighthearted and enjoyable nowadays?The vintage details like painting on the Shredded Wheat dividers was a neat touch, also. Also, one “sanitized swear.”
