really liked this!! just thought its kinda weird that rhys and bridget are like lowkey kinda related ?? aren't they??? well wtv its realistic to irl royalty!! :D
I enjoy this one but not going to lie. I love the first more than this one. But I love this one too. So happy I am enjoying them. I did get the twist before the twist was revealed. Going to start the 3rd one now.
I don't even know why I read this book I did NOT enjoy twisted love at all but damn I'm glad I did because I ate that shit up! I actually liked both main characters and I liked them both separately as well as together. You want a smutty read (well the last half of the book) where you don't have to do much thinking? This is it.

I forgot how much I enjoy a good royalty romance!
I just really loved everything about this - Bridget and Rhys were great, the side characters and family, the growth of Bridget as she took on the role of Crown Princess then Queen.
It could perhaps have been a little shorter as it started to drag at time but as I listened on audio it didn't affect my enjoyment much.
My only complaint about the audio was the way the female narrator said Rhys, like ‘Reeeeeze'. Made me laugh every time!
OKAY. Way better than the first one. I'm obsessed!!!!!
I'm a sucker for forbidden love but this one completely did it for me.
Grumpy vs sunshine, spicy, Royal romance?? Hello.

"Careful, Mr Larsen, or I'll think you actually like me.”His mouth curled into a grin. “Baby, we're way beyond like."

rating- 3.5/5
Absolutely loved it. Definitely an improvement from book 1; the writing was much better and I was able to connect with the characters so much more.
I've always loved royal romances, enter 12 year old ritika reading princess diaries repeatedly so the whole princess-bodyguard setting, Bridget's royal duties, Eldorra's parliament, The Royal Marriages Law- all of it, extremely fascinated me. Also really really loved Rhys and his backstory. And their relationship. holy hell. (so hot please-)
The amount of jealousy scenes in this book though:
I finally gathered enough of my wits to pull back, but before I could, a loud crash shattered the silence in the greenhouse.Steffan and I jumped apart, and my eyes fell on Rhys, who stood next to a broken pot of lilies.“My hand slipped.” His voice held not an ounce of apology.
tiny revelations and subplots that add to the reading experience.
SETBACKS
“And so it went. Day after day, month after month of the same thing. Fall turned into winter, then into spring and summer, then fall again.

quite predictable, but a fun, entertaining read :)
Maybe closer to a 2.5. This one unfortunately didn't work for me. I love a good bodyguard romance but this was not it. Rhys barely had a personality and I had such a hard time buying this romance. Every single issue that got set up was also tied up a bit too neatly for my liking, and even the mystery was so obvious then quickly run through. So many different elements were set up and then in the last 100 pages they were just quickly finished up without the time necessary to make the pay off worth it.
I also just could not stop comparing this to Ava and Alex's story so this just fell so short.
Rhys and Bridget. Ugh I'm in love! These two! This was so wonderfully written and Ana Huang is quickly becoming a favourite author. This is my second book (the first being Twisted Love) and I'm so madly in love with her stories! I went in blind, only knowing what was told in the first book, that Bridget is a princess and Rhys her bodyguard. I didn't realize how slow this was going to burn and I'm so not upset.
It's told over the course of a few years and we get to see them slowly fall in love. Rhys has a troubled past from his upbringing and the Navy and he is not interested in love. Bridget carries a lot of responsibility as the princess, especially when she finds out she must become Queen - something she didn't want. Through all the troubles they encounter, the sneaking around, the law, these two end up fighting for their love and come out so strong.
Such a beautiful read!
