There's a lot of heart and character here. The POV's grapple with God was striking. Pardon the pun. Definitely worth a read.

Beautifully written! Quite a long story, but thank you William Kent Krueger, for allowing me to escape on the journey along with the vagabonds.

This book was everything my wife alluded to and now I understand her enthusiastic, bordering on obnoxious, ceaseless recommending of it. Moving, sweet, beautiful, simple, sweeping - such a wonderful read. An ode to the joyous wonder of storytelling.

This was a great break from all the fantasy I've been reading. The escapades of Odie, Albert, Mose and Emmy, while heartbreaking at the outset and filled with turmoil during the journey, ends with love, peace, and renewed familial bonds. Such a great coming of age story.
