“Maybe it's better to have gotten it right and been happy for one day instead of living a lifetime of wrongs.”
[3.25] Imagine receiving a call after midnight telling you that you're going to die within the next 24 hours. No details about when or where or how you'll kick the bucket, only that you undoubtedly will before the clock strikes 12.
That's what those in this universe experience with Death-Cast, an organization in charge of informing people of their End Day. Mateo and Rufus—both recipients of the ill-fated call—find each other through an app called Last Friend and live their final moments together.
I won't deny the niggle of hope that the title wouldn't come to fruition, but the whole time it was like reading through the slits of my fingers, anxiously waiting for the inevitable guillotine to drop.
What I liked:
- The cover!!! The way their shadows form the Grim Reaper wielding its scythe, clever and glorious
- The friendship and bond between the MCs. Wholesome
