I've read probably 300 romance novels in the past six months and this is the first one where I hoped the characters would NOT get together. These two are AWFUL together and Lisa is just awful, period. While I agree that Simon needed to “get back out there” and I'd even be okay with a rebound romance between these two that ended in a friendship and both of them moving on to other people, I HATE these two together.
Also, both of their friends are terrible and annoying.
Overall, good story concept and Simon was a decent character. Everyone else was garbage.
Carpet Diem! This was an interesting look at what happens when two broken people get thrown together for a blind date that keeps getting extended for various reasons both of their own choosing and not. Fairly Hallmark Movie-ish, if one of the ones with a bit more drama to it. Funny without necessarily being gut-bustingly so, it works well for a tight yet plausible romantic dramedy. (The entirety of the actual story of the book takes place over just about 27 hrs or so.) A great palate cleanser after a dark book, this one is very much recommended.
