Very nice.
I've had this on my to-read for a while now. Started the audiobook and realized the narrator was not going to do it for me. It was the same guy from Spellbound which I'd just finished, and I was distracted by it.
Anyway, I called it. Called the twist too. But was still nervous so you know it's a good mystery :)
Good chemistry. Cooper is prickly done right. Prickly but also with enough emotional maturity to try. Park is sweet af.
This was a pretty good read!! I don't often go for mystery/detective-type books, I tend to lean more toward straight thrillers, but this was definitely a good time. It wasn't too hard to follow but it still surprised me when it got down to who really “dun it”, especially since I was actually confident I had already figured it out, which isn't a usual thing for me. I'm glad it ended it being who it was, though. To keep it vague, it made sense.
I also really enjoyed that the relationship wasn't insta-love. In fact, I'd say they aren't even near love at all by the end of the book, which isn't to say that they hate each other but I'm glad to get a more realistic relationship development, which actually makes sense considering the short time-period this book takes place over, relatively.
Overall this was a good time! I'll be looking into the rest of the series!
I loved this cute little mystery story but I could not keep track of their names for my LIFE

YES. YES. YES.
Look – you all know how much I love werewolves. I'm extremely picky when it comes to my werewolf lore, so it's hard to find a book (let alone a series) that I'm interested in reading all the way through. I start every werewolf book with doubts, and well, The Wolf At the Door quickly squashed them. This was almost everything I've been looking for – I do wish the romance side of things was pushed slightly more, but whatever. I'll take it.
The Wolf at the Door is, at it's heart, a murder mystery all wrapped up in werewolves. The greater public has no idea that wolves exist, but there's a whole offshoot of the FBI that specializes in them. Our main character, Cooper, is an agent with the BSI – and he's been given a new wolf partner to investigate a series of murders in a tiny little town in the middle of nowhere. I was THOROUGHLY wrapped up in the case, desperately wanting to know what was going on. I thought I had it figured out about half way in, but nope. I didn't see the end coming.
Dang, did I enjoy this. And dang, did I absolutely love Cooper's werewolf partner – Oliver Park. I can't wait to learn more about him, because he was amazing. Cool, collected, a hidden sense of humor. An alpha werewolf who really didn't act like one. I'm 100000% into him, and so is Cooper.
I do want more werewolf lore, but I assume that's coming as the series progresses. Absolutely fantastic. Can't wait to get into the next one.
The relationship between Cooper and Park was compelling but slow to develop, and the mystery plot bored me with too many similar characters. The last few chapters were exciting but it was too easy for me to put the book down until then. Might or might not continue with the series.
