Wiley is a young troublemaker, and JuJu is his older sister who is always looking out for ways to keep him out of trouble; this time, at the library!
The story of Wiley and JuJu is a fun one! JuJu and Wiley display the relationship of siblings, especially in that of JuJu always looking out for Wiley and understanding that his “troublemaking” is a reaction out of fear of the librarian. She understands her brother on a level that even parents don't understand (which is common for siblings this close in age) and takes on the responsibility of taking care of him. It's a really sweet story and I loved how it ended.
I do have to say that for this age group (Amazon says early readers), the format and design isn't great. It's fine if you plan to read aloud to your kiddo, but there are a lot of words on each page so I could see beginning readers getting bored, lost, or stuck while reading by themselves. Especially towards the end as the pages get longer. The font and size of the words are not dyslexia-friendly either.
But overall, I think The Wild World of Wiley and JuJu is a fun read and has a sweet sibling bond, but I do wish the layout would have been a bit more kid-friendly. Also, it would have been fantastic if the author included some animal facts on the giraffe and zebra (since those were the animals mentioned) and maybe told us WHY zebras were Wiley's favorite animal. I give it 3 out of 5 stars.
