Meh.
Not terrible. There was some enjoyable witty banter. But honestly, I just didn't care.... about any of it.
Hmmmm...didn't live up to the hype and I was left a bit disappointed. It wasn't bad, just was okay for me.
This book was SO cute. Olive and Ethan absolutely killed me with how adorable they were together. I love hate to love romances so this book was right up my alley from the get go. My only criticism is that I felt like once they actually got together it hit so fast. I could have used just a bit more of a burn, but I absolutely adored this book as a whole. SO CUTE, but SO UPSETTING. And then SO CUTE again. My emotions were all over the place.
Went in expecting a cute Zoya Factor like story, ended up with a Chetan Bhagat style unrealistic romance. The plot conveniences made this not so enjoyable to read.
Like reading a rom-com. It was mostly light, with some predictable action, but well-written and the characters were interesting.
A nice palette cleanser.
Christina Lauren really knows how to keep me entertained. I loved everything about this book. I've now read 3 Christina Lauren books and this is definitely my favorite. The scenes back in Minnesota were just as good—if not better—than the ones in Hawaii. It was just the happy fluff I needed right now. I loved the subtle theme that was snuck in there of doing what is best for you, even if it strays from the path you've created for yourself. The characters had unique little quirks that made them super
After my deception with my favorite half night stand my favorite duo is back at it !
This book is just great. The characters are funny and intelligent, with the story they evolve and we really have the impression of depth. The story is cute and well built, the forced proximity is working well and see them build their relationship. With that they both have good reasons to hate each other even if it is a misunderstanding. It's funny, sexy and as always well written.
Sweet at first but some gaslighting and mental manipulation had me squinting at the end of the book.
One sentence synopsis... When the bride and groom get food poisoning at the wedding, the maid of honor and best man take their place for a week long, all-expenses-paid Hawaiian honeymoon.
Read it if you like... romantic comedies, the enemies-to-lovers trope, light beach reads.
Dream casting... Gina Rodriquez as unlucky Olive and Sebastian Stan as her sparring partner Ethan.
4.5 stars. This was fun, hilarious, quirky - a total escape. Just what I needed
This book was really cute! I really liked Evan and Olive together once they got there and I loved all the drama of them having to fake being together.
Their fighting towards the end really annoyed me and made me like Evan much less, but I am very stubborn myself...
Overall I did really like the book though and would probably read it again!
Fake relationship and angst? Great!
Enemies to lovers? AMAZING!
The way this book has so many of my favourite tropes.. I need more Christina Lauren books
The bride and groom and everyone else at their wedding takes ill—everyone except the bride's identical twin sister and the groom's brother. The bride insists her sister and new brother-in-law take the fabulous honeymoon. But there's one problem: the bride's sister and brother-in-law hate each other.
Yes, it's unlikely, and more unlikely things happen once the two arrive in Maui, but it's all in good fun. You know what is going to happen, but, hey, just enjoy the magic.
Overall, mindless enjoyment. I like fake relationship stories, but it was pretty predictable and the characters were stereotypical.
Weird nitpick, but it irked me every time they said or thought “Twin Cities”. I don't think I've ever said that to someone who was also from Minnesota, and it just bothered me.
I may or may not have read this in one sitting instead of going to bed early for work but it was definitely worth it. Super adorable. The enemies-to-lovers transition was really well done.
Such a cute December read! I had a hard time connecting to Olive at first as she is ever the pessimist, but after reading a little into it, I ended up loving this journey of self exploration, love, forgiveness and healing.
I think I always assumed that “fun” reads must be badly written, but this wasn't. It was delightful.
