The Undead Day One

It's a bit like the Harry Potter of zombie novels. The writing and plotting itself is middling to not great but it is saved by the storytelling which makes it difficult to put down.

I really enjoyed reading it even if it does have some fairly significant flaws.

-Fairly sexist throughout though this does tone down towards the end
- Much of what happens requires the reader to suspend their disbelief which is often offputting
- An unpleasant “joke” rape scene which doesn't seem to be in the book for any purpose other than comedic effect
- Again, what happens in the book is frequently unbelievable even within the bounds of the book's universe
