I really really liked this! The shifter world was simple, but still exciting.
I loved Una our FMC. She was underestimated her entire life but still brave and strong, despite her injury/disability.
She didn’t take shit from the Alpha, Killian.
Despite his public rejection from her, she didn’t give into his apologies or grovelling. He had to work for her forgiveness and we love that. Killian had to earn her forgiveness and convince her how wrong he was because he feels the bond and this protectiveness over her even though she doesn’t really want or need it.
Very much looking forward to future books in this series
The chapters written from Una's viewpoint were actually so good and then it would switch to Killian's POV and I couldn't take anything the dude says seriously. But at the same time the author got the gym bro way of thinking/speaking so correctly that I was also awestruck at her. Conflicted feelings. Devoured the book in one day.
This book is exactly as advertised, hitting on all of the mainstream tropes in this type of story and a lot of loose threads left at the end.
It was great for my reading streak since I kinda get overwhelmed when I start a big book and feel like I'm moving really slowly through it, so picking up something fast-paced and quick that I can read in 1 or 2 sittings works great to fend off a reading slump.
Una has suffered an injury to her leg which places her in the “weak” category in this society. Una goes into heat and recognizes the Alpha as her mate. He does not and publicly rejects her. It was bad. He leans into the weak trope heavily to justify the fact that she can't be his mate. Until he figures out how wrong he has always been. There was a lot of groveling. Most of the book is about Una going into heat and Killian groveling. They don't even like each other and it was hard to imagine the endgame for them. Like we know and expect it to happen, but I wasn't sure if Una was going to be all in or was just her wolf.
I don't know... By the end it worked for me.

I picked this KU paranormal romance up after seeing it on the Twitter of one of my trusted fellow booklovers. (When she said it was worth the read, I basically jumped at it.) You all know how much I love werewolves. And you certainly know how much I love romances, so combine the two together, and you basically have catnip for Jordyn. But dang, there are a lot of BAD werewolf romances out there, and I'm particularly picky when it comes to my favorite mythological creature.
So even if I'm extremely picky when it comes to werewolves, The Tyrant Alpha's Rejected Mate was a whirlwind of fun. Killian and Una are something else together, but it does take them almost the whole book to get there. Killian has to grovel something FIERCE to make up to Una for humiliating her in front of their entire pack. I thoroughly enjoyed watching him figure out how to make her happy, and how to apologize for the pain that he had put her through.
Una, on the other hand, stood her ground and I loved her for it. I especially loved her wolf. What a queen. Killian's wolf was WAY ahead of Killian himself, and that was also extremely entertaining.
I also love love love the reveal towards the end of the book. That made the rest of the book better, and honestly, yeah, it made everything make a little more sense. It was the perfect reveal. I would have read about 293408234 more books about these two. I'll definitely be picking up the next, though I have heard it isn't quite as good.
I really, really liked it until about 75% of the way through. The resolution if the conflict felt very deus ex machina, and very rushed.
I loved how the author wrote our disabled heroine, the world building was solid, and most importantly for me I really liked how scenes “felt.” The traumatic incidents the heroine went through were so well described I really felt for her, and felt like I was experiencing it alongside her.
I thought the ending was rushed, the couple needed more time to develop their chemistry. It really didn't ever feel like the heroine came close to forgiving the hero, until all of the sudden she just did. It felt very jarring and the depth of emotion wasn't up to the same level as was shown by the author in the first half. I think ill try something else by this author, because she really had me by the heart for a minute.
