The Triton brig.

The Triton brig.

1969 • 378 pages

This is the third command for young Lieutenant Lord Ramage in a watertight series. Once again the Lords of the Admiralty hopefully issue impossible orders-Ramage is to take over the Triton, a brig in the wake of a justified mutiny. Ramage must fight old shipmates (remember the Kathleen crew?) and his own sympathies to restore order which he does with an inspired ploy and a little help from his friends. Then it's off to the tropics and the case of the disappearing schooners which vanish, impossibly, into a voodoo mist. There's the capture of a slave ship, some excellent naval maneuvering and Ramage's hardpressed but indefatigable intuition which leads to the solution. Mr. Pope does indeed know his scuppers.
