Debating 2* or 3*...

What I liked about it: Dave has a radio show so his narration of the audiobook honestly feels like a podcast. He does have a nice voice for audio and def. some passion.
That passion and emotional engagement will probably connect with a lot of people. I would really recommend this book to people who have a problem with debt (which is the whole book, fuck debt...not a lot of other information).
He generally has some good advice here and there...I especially like the advice he gives of letting family/friends loan from you vs. giving freely your money and what that will do to the relationship. He also tears lease/moneylenders/payday loans apart and that was really fun.
Sounds like a tough love dad - but sincere!

What I didn't like: Pretty much immediately fat-phobic... fat = poor..seriously dude, find something better. I disagree with his credit card, I get he's trying to do debt bad through the entire book and I do get his points...I just disagree because when you use a card properly (like giving your $ a job, give your cards a job too) you can make money back, additionally my partner did raise his credit score slowly with his card...but I generally agree with his logic if you can not be trusted (or your weakness) is credit cards not to have one. soooo, I can give this a pass.
The worst advice was too that woman who wondered how to talk to her partner about fiance that did not want to go to counseling. ALWAYS keep yourself financially independent. That way if your partner doesn't want to work with you and go to therapy DO NOT trap yourself in the relationship! I've seen too many good women tied down by their partner because they controlled the money. BE FINANCIALLY INDEPENDENT!!!
He does sound like a tough love dad, but that also makes him sound old fashion and wrong in some aspects.
He only talks about debt...so total money makeover is a bit misleading to me.

I generally like this a lot more than “I will teach you to be rich” guy, if i would have read this I would have gotten the same smug vibe BUT I'm so happy I did audio because this guy I thought was fun to listen too and I understood his tone he was taking (compared to if I read it).
