The best kind of dark fairytale that is unfortunately held back by pacing issues and a tacked-on ending.
The more I sit thinking of this book, the less I like it. From 3 to 2 stars, and mostly because the beginning is excellent and Merrick exists. The rest of the book feels like it was written by a newbie with no idea how to resolve plot points.
Oh, and Hazel is insufferable.
