The Sweetest Oblivion

DNF at 70ish% I know, I know, why stop at 70%, right? Well, I was already finding this one a bit boring. The heroine was annoying with her constant inner thoughts about the OW Nico had been with (or may sleep with in the future). Nico was a pretty colossal asshole that I just wasn't warming up to. But really, the last straw was him purposely going out of his way to hurt Elena by letting her meet his maid (and former fuckbuddy). All because neither of these two could have a conversation like adults. So yea, I am out.



That said, I think the book was quite well written especially for a debut novel. lol So although this particular one didn't work for me, I am still onboard for giving this author another chance.

I'm speechless. Every time I said I wouldn't be obsessed with another mmc I failed

Nicolas Russo was another level of Hotness he was firm, strong, powerful yet gentle, well spoken and great man, I can see why Elena was whipped from the first eye contact

I finished this in two days just so I can absorb nico Russo into my veins

This man will live rente free in my head for the rest of my life

For the plot it was well written, could be better in some of the parts but generally it was nice, easy with no complex words or thoughts

the scene where Elena almost ruined her life to me it could be better but I guess her cause made the situation more Light and she was forgiven fast

But that will not prevent the book from being one of my top 5 dark romance series

Can't wait for the second one

too slooowwwwwwwwww...i wanted to like it, but the burn was too slow

I don't even know what I want to rate this I want to give it a 4 but a 5 is just so Idk there like I need to give it that. I'll see what I end up deciding but I loved the character so much but then over time I wasn't as invested. I think I was more in a state of I wanted them to just be together because the constant miscommunication throughout the book was a lot. I also didn't like the whole her leaving and him doing all that for zero reasons that pissed me off as I understand him as a person but the whole burning her clothes and being that angry wasn't needed. She never gave him the intention to she was going to leave him ever. I think the ending was perfect for them and I want to read the rest of the series it looks like it could be a fun read.

This was my first venture into Dark AND Mafia Romance, and let me just say, this did not dissapoint.

Who would've thought it was a mafia man I needed to read all along... I'm here for it all! Nico Russo, the man that you are, the obsession is real - blowing up a gas station because the owner touched her! I'm sat!!

honestly, I'm concerned i liked the dude but yeah ignoring a lot of things that would otherwise ick me out, solely because this was mafia; (guilty pleasure much?) it was a fun, fast-paced read.
I could see the conflict/coming from a mile away but loved reading it nonetheless.

loved the characters, loved the story and loved Nico

reading this made my whole week, but NICO made my hole weak.

This book was sexy and steamy but with an actual plot, which I fully appreciate! Nico was SO HOT and ELENA was such strong MC ♥ I'll continue with the next book of the saga! I feel like I will have a good time too!

I loved this!
I haven't had any luck lately with dark romances. I was thinking maybe this subgenre doesn't work for me anymore but I'm so happy Danielle Lori proved me wrong.
The chemistry between Nico and Elena was amazing! The sexual tension was pure perfection in the story. These two were fire together! Nico was a fantastic hero, Elena was great too even though I think she didn't quite reach her full character growth potential. I loved the way Elena stood up to Nico. I enjoyed the writing a lot and I'll definitely continue to read this series.
The only thing that didn't quite work for me was the pacing. A little too slow until 50%ish, even though I ended up enjoying the slow burn.

After a little bit of a slow start, this really picked up about the 40% mark and the pay off was totally worth it.

The angst, the sexual tension, the smut, everything was top level. And Nico, I have no words.
