The author certainly knows how to develop and describe places and situations that are nothing short of magical. Her descriptions are dazzling, and one truly gets a sense of the deep mysteries hiding underneath the relative blandness of what we think of as “reality”. Part mythology, part adventure game, part detective story, this book was unlike anything I'd read previously - kudos! I'll never look at bees and owls and cats and the moon and stars in the prior-to-reading-this-book way again. Four stars instead of five because I felt a bit disconnected from the characters near the end, but I will happily recommend it, regardless.
